What would be the most similar codec to QT’s Animation for AVI? I would use QT movs but a couple of our qorkstations won’t read them, so I need to stay AVI or TGA sequences.

Great stuff, Thanks Aharon – I set it to purge 15 frames and it worked a treat! I didn’t even slow down the render. I was worried it would clear RAM cache for previews aswell, but seems to be only renders. So should I just leave that set to 15frames now, until such I time I have a problem again?

Should be getting a dual-core, 4GB ram and Nucleo Pro next week, so that will make me a very happy man and should minimise this kind of thing. New toys always perk me up.

Sounds like Animation codec is your best bet, or if you’ve got the space do it totally uncompressed.

Maybe they’ve got abunch of AE7 boxes to get rid of?!? OR perhaps it’s a pre-order thing..I notice alot of companies offering heavy discounts if you pre-order rather than waiting til it comes out. (Gridiron being one) Maybe it’s beneficial for sales/profit to do it that way? I ain’t no businessman.

Sounds like you need Nucleo Pro…that will maxout all your procs if oyu give it enough RAM…

Sorry guys, how do you access these secret prefs?

Funny – I’ve never had a render crash until today!…not a massively complex 10 sec comp. There is some motion blur on 2 layers and time remapping with frame blending (Frame Mix) on one layer. Rest of layers have mainly positional/opacity KFs applied and not much else…

When I render with MOblur on and FB set to best quality the render kept crashing halfway through saying “After Effects does not have enough memory”

I ended up having to switch FB to draft quality to get it to finish the render. Obviously I don’t want to have to do this every time. Anyone know what could be the prob?

I have 2GB RAM and a single core Pent4 3GHz and neither seemed to max out on render, so whay the apparent lack of memory?

I HAVEN’T TRIED XP64 YET, IT’S JUST WHAT I’VE READ. I’M PRETTY SURE PROD STUDIO AND DECKLINK DRIVERS WORK FINE UNDER XP64. CHECK ON BMD FORUM TO BE SURE. BUT ANYONE I’VE SPOKEN TO ABOUT OS’S HAS SAID XP64 IS BY FAR PREFERABLE TO VISTA.

So do you have an SD Decklink card now then, for monitoring to your sony?
I think depending on your gfx card you may be able to monitor straight out of that to a HDMI monitor, or go for Intensity? I could be wrong..

I too was wondering about simultanious SD/HD broadcast output using DL cards…Can you use component for SD and at the same time use one of the SDI outputs from a DL Extreme to go to your HD b/cast monitor? I’ve heard SD signals tend to look awful on HD LCDs via downsampling?
