  • Hi Guys,

Thanks for responses. Yes, its a BMD sequence, but not using the decklink to output any audio, just to capture it via embedded SDI. I’ve got mapping prefs set to default headphones, but just not taking for some reason.

Also, it’s doing this no matter what clip I throw in a timeline…by that captured uncompressed QTs via the decklink, exported QTs of various flavours from AE or QT Pro and also tried some MPEGs, WMVs, MP3s and straight WAVs – nothing!

    Yeessh.

  • Very good! 😉

Yeah, tried restart PP and rebooted mac twice and still no joy…I’ve taken to importing sequence into After Effects to edit via RAM Preview! Not ideal..but short-term fix to get this thing delivered.

Anymore ideas guys? I’ll need to fix it soon!

    Cheers,

April 25, 2012 at 2:23 pm in reply to: Premiere upgrades for old versions.

    Hi Adrian,

AFAIK Adobe always used to have a 2-3 versions back upgrade path…I remember back when I was running either CS1 or 2 production suite I had to upgrade to CS4 or lose upgradability..or something like that.

So I’m guessing Premiere Pro 1.5 won’t qualify.

However you can now ‘rent’ the apps you want on a monthly basis via this Cloud thing I think…so you could pay as you need it perhaps?

UPDATE: I’ve updated BMD drivers, apple s/w update and gone to PPro CS5.5.2 now and the problem remains!?

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks,

February 15, 2012 at 9:37 am in reply to: Video Card Options?

    Hi Phil,

The Blackmagic cards are great – I’ve used them for the last 8yrs and generally if you keep upto date with the latest software updates and compatibility with Adobe/Quicktime versions then you’ll be a very happy bunny. As Matthew said, there’s lots of options and I think a couple of HDMI only ones if that’s all you need.

I’m running a BMD Decklink HD Extreme 3D+, which has all the bells and whistles you’d ever need and I’m outputting simultaneously to an SD CRT grading monitor via component, and HDMI to a HD Plasma, with several options to ingest/playout to variety of HD/SD decks.

Another thing to bear in mind (If you can afford the upgrade) is going to CS5.5 and looking to purchase a CUDA/Mercury Engine compatible GFX card. If you’re on a PC then you have quite a few options (if on mac then it starts at the Quadro FX4000)….but you will save literally HOURS of time spent rendering; instead just zip around your timeline and adding tonnes of effects without so much as a preview render.

Good luck! Oh and big hello to sunny Melbourne – got a couple of mates living out there who are loving it, so it can’t be all bad!

    Jim.

  • Ahh…oh yes I see. Hmm…might have to just do whole edit in AE!

Do you know if there’s a way to ‘lock’ or view a parent sequence, whilst I’m adjusting things in the nested comp? Otherwise it’s a bit of a nightmare to see your results in context to the splits.

  • Hi Ann,

Don’t mean to be rude, but did you read my post?….the problem is when I scale or move the video layer that I want to pan/scan within the matte shape, it moves/scales the matte layer too. I need the matte layer(s) to stay still at all times and it won’t!

January 11, 2012 at 9:23 am in reply to: RGB curves lost on PPro import – fix?

Thanks Dave, I was going to keep it all in AE from now on to do VFX on the edit, but I guess I’ll just have to redo the grade from scratch in AE 🙁

I just wondered if there was a way to maybe change ‘RGB curves’ effect name to ‘Curves’ so it can be read into AE natively…after all both effect have exactly the same controls and function don’t they??
