    Hi Mike,

Yeah I grabbed it in via my Decklink in DV codec (I usually grab everything in uncompressed from digi, but in this case I didn’t see the point.) Would it be quicker if my source video was uncompressed?

I’ve applied no effects, just literally grabbed it in, put on the timeline, trimmed work area and set it encoding.

It’s about 3/4 of the way there now and my client is waiting for it, so on this occasion I’ll leave it be..but I’ll test some lower bitrate tests later on. I’d have thought that the *more* compressed your encoded video the longer it’d take?..seeing as the encoder has more work to do?

It might help you out in Premiere…but again, check the Adobe site for details.

Ha ha! Yeah, obviously…but surely there’s no point tracking a still when you already have control over any movement on it anyway..Just thought tracking moving footage would make more sense. I wondered whether maybe I was missing something else..

CS3 works as exactly as Nucleo standard + AE7 would do I believe.

Let me/us know if you get an answer to this (good luck – BMD have been appauling at replying to posts/emails recently if I’m frank)

..I need to spec up an x64 based system soon and was going to go for Decklink or Xena (surprised there’s no Xena support) I guess there’s stuff like Bluefish 444 and DVS boards, but then there’s also a MASSIVE price-hike.

I’m slightly confused in this tutew why he’s tracking a still photo? Surely you’d get the same result by parenting or pickwhipping position/anchor points?

September 5, 2007 at 10:20 pm in reply to: PPro needs to render opacity change?

    Hi Steven,

Thanks for info and apologies for rant earlier..it was one of those afternoons!

I know I need a faster system – I’ve been nagging my boss for months now. Hopefully a vague upgrade of a dual-core next week and something much better a little way down he line.

The premultiplied thing – I didn’t actively pre-mult it I just rendered RGB+A instead of straight. PPro didn’t seem to key out the black edges natively, so had to use remove matte effect. I just thought that if PP says it plays 32bit files in realtime it meant realtime OVER another layer, otherwise what’s the point in a 32-bit file!?

Anyway…will do some more tests tomorrow when I get time. Thanks for adivce.

September 5, 2007 at 10:12 pm in reply to: You know the nasty old snowball karaoke trick?…

Hi guys, thanks for help…I ended up just duplicating and re-using the text line and ball solid layer as a group and shifting the x pos and timing of the ‘land’ KF of the ball on each word and then adding/subtracting for extra words. Took 4hrs fr 3min song, but looks ok.
It was for some corporate xmas video (really horrible one!) so needed doing there and then…makes me wonder though – on those karaoke machines do they really have someone do each song manually like that? Yikes..Keeps you in work I suppose.

icanlevitate – I only used 2 KFs per bounce and just bent a bezier arch between them. Seemed to look alright. Ta for thoughts though guys.
