    Thanks for the links. Does one program work better than the other? I don’t want to use scene detection. I like to keep the capture in large files. Jim

    No, I have not used HDVSplit or CapDVHS. Are they recommended? Are they free downloads? Thanks, Jim

    Steve, thanks for responding. Which preferences are you referring to? The preferences in capture, specifying the firewire connection and the camera? The option to stop when there are dropped frames, etc.? Thanks, Jim

    I think there is something wrong with my computer. I’m going to try capturing on a different computer.
