Thanks all very simple too. One other thing, I’m going to edit a mix of HD 1080i and 4:3 DVD video and b&w stills. Not sure format should I use for final product to dvd? Seems like 16:9 would be one choice?

Thanks for your comments, I decided to just just capture it again, in 4 sections. At least that’s one thing I can do. I was great in DV and FCP3, and coming to HD is a series of confusing codec problems that I just can’t get.

Well, I don’t know what I do wrong, I have now tried at least 4 different methods and still can’t come up with the dvd. I make it thru Compression but when I attempt to burn, it says “VIDEO_TS folder found in build file… must remove”.

Somehow I don’t seem to place files where they’re supposed to be and not where they are…

Honestly, I’m not a dummy, I just don’t get this thing that sounds so simple to you guys…

I might have posted this already but can’t see it. Tried your suggestion and it worked, except no audio.

I have 5 of the same file, 2 are .mov from FCP, 2 are thru Compression (audio & video) and two I don’t know where they came from, just a error msg that says Video TS folder. (I know what that means, just don’t know why it shows up)

I seem to get same error msg I can find. I tried just a QT file and msg reads Import Error (one or more files failed to import).

It’s almost like I should just wipe out everything and start again? Or I just give them the squeezed versions, it’s only for transcription, the project is at the early states, no editing for at least a few months. Hate to do that, but I cannot figure this out. Steenbecks were far easier.

Appreciate your help, it just seems to overwhelm me.

Well, getting closer, followed your last post, and it came out letterboxed, but no audio. I compressed the ftg thru Compression (my first attempt at the program ever) and realized it has two tracks, video and audio.

Played it and video was fine (purpose of the ftg is to transcribe the interview so quality is fine).

I must have only dragged the video to the green box?

I tried the straight QT file and it wouldn’t work.

I made it to Compressor with the QT file, had the file finished but when I went to DVD Studio Pro, it was working well until the burn and then it said the file was incompatible and said to go to iDVD and/or other odd choices?

I’ve never used Studio Pro, actually spent the last 3 hrs trying to get it to work, but some element was always missing. Back to the books I guess.

It’s like being on a raft drifting away and someone says they can’t help because they’ve never been on a raft.
