  • Crikey I love Creative Cow.

Five minutes ago I was screaming at the screen. Now, having read and tried your fixes, I’m as calm as a cucumber and back in love with After Effects.

Changed the frame rate in ‘interpret footage’ for some reason it was 23.5 and not 25.

    Many many thanks!!!

Just a quick one but I’ve been looking for this solution for ages!!! Thanks so much Ben. I’m going to have a proper look at it and try and understand the principles that it works by – I’ve never used the…

    if (time-key(1).time<=0)

    … expression before.

And thanks for that Adobe link. It’s great.

  • Um…

    O.k.

…so having banged my head against a brick wall for a day and then posted, I think I’ve found the reason….

The .psd file I was trying to import was ‘WINDOW_03.psd’

It was in a folder with ‘WINDOW_01.psd’ and ‘WINDOW_02.psd’.

When I was importing it I didn’t realise that I had the ‘Photoshop sequence’ button checked.

Which would explain why it couldn’t import all the animated layers as crud-knows how it would have done it (some dimensional break I suppose)!

    Sorry!

I hope this is of help to anyone with the same problem!

    Hey Gabe and Joey,

Yes, I’ve never seen that puppet thing. I’ve been playing around with it only just now and you might be right although it rather scuppers the system that I’ve constructed afterwards (there are ‘hands’ which need to follow the arm once it’s animated).

    There was a post here
    https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/227/10479
about utilising mask information which might be good for it too.

Gabe, if I can I’ll try and render out an example although trickily it’s a thing which I’m a little constrained to show as it’s project in development with some people… a case of balancing satisfying artistic exploration versus the horrible maintenance of commercial politeness…ha ha

Thanks for both of your comments though… hopefully be back with something after the weekend (and on that note have a good one yourselves…)

July 4, 2008 at 3:00 pm in reply to: Mask points

Oh lordy! This might be something I’ve been looking for although from the other way round. I’m just following through on all of your suggestions Mike so in the meantime I might stumble upon a solution but

I’ve got a three pointed mask/path I’m using to make an arm on a character (it is then ‘stroked’ to make a solid arm) and I’m trying to find a way where I can take the information from the three vertices (which are basically the hand, elbow and shoulder) and use that information to be able to automatically position a texture which I then use ‘underneath’ and revealed by the stroked arm….

Shall explore and experiment although this is literally the first time I have used expressions or presets!!!

    Thanks for the useful information!

Nice one, thanks Ben, yes, I had a suspicion that was the case. Like I said, the motion tracking in there’s pretty ace anyway.

    Thanks again,

Just a thought but have you tried downloading a sound program (I use Goldwave), importing the AVI into there and then saving that sound file as a WAV?

I know that I had a nightmare a while back with MP3 related sounds and that this sorted it out although back then it did import the audio it just refused to sync throughout the piece…

Goldwave can be found here for a free download

    Hang in there!

    Rich.

You star! Thank you so much, I downloaded it and it’s absolutely sorted out the problem.

Funny how these helpful ‘updates’ utterly de-rail everything and you’re left high and dry. And what a frustrating place to be.

    Thanks again
