I’ve got 48 hours to deliver the film we’ve been working on and then I can update.
Can’t wait for the performance improvement.
All of this recent work, while not completely consoling me, has gotten me more and more used to some of the unconventional conventions that I found inconvenient. This could make me a believer.
And don’t think for a minute that the X team doesn’t see itself in competition with the PP team now. It’s how I always get the best out of my people and myself – competition.

They’ve asked for feedback and have certainly gotten a lot.
As I work on this new project I frustrate a bit over the little niggling things that could be fixed simply and have found a balance of stability by strictly managing project memory.
I’ve been anticipating 0.4 and can’t wait to see what they address.
I think it might be a good indicator of where we’re going. It would certainly show that they’re focused on rapid development.
We’ll see.

[Steve Connor] “”hopes dreams and aspirations?” and now the nasty corporation has taken those away, let’s put our faith in businesses that really care for us artists like HP perhaps, who nearly dropped their PC line entirely or Avid who spent so many years sucking money out of facilities with their grossly inflated prices.”
Holy shnikeys, editing has become a dark art.
I’m gonna stab myself with my magic mouse. -
[Bill Davis] “Hey, are you joining the NAB trek? Love to extend the “first round’s on me” offering to you as well if you’re going to be there.”
Oh man, yet another great invitation that I’d love to accept.
DRW invited me to the ProMax soiree that I have to sadly miss.
The biggest problem with owning a creative firm and a farm is that this time of year, 7 days a week is hardly enough.
It’s the reason I moved the offices and studios to the farm a few years ago. This time of year I’m either completely schizophrenic or fully integrated depending on your perspective.
I’m foaling, I’m editing, I’m preparing fields, I’m designing, I’m working with horses asses…I’m working with horses asses. -
[Bill Davis] “There are times for “safe” and times for “bold.” Since the new X works well for me already – I like that they took these chances to provide me with an alternative choice.
It’s more fun this way!”
I can be an adventure Bill .
I thought this was a well balanced post.
It’s no more reasonable to say that FCPX is crap than it is to say that the people working with it successfully are…whatever.
When it does what it does well, it’s a lot of fun to create with.
It’s the adventure I could do without. -
[Richard Herd] “I’m also very careful to set the roles and I for clarity’s sake, I use the Jim Giberti technique of general organization.”
Thanks Richard, I’ve always wanted my own branded technique.
Are you using a template to start like the one I posted?

Yeah Jeremy, this is one of the things that would/will make Compound Clips really useful – especially for stuff like complex audio tracks where you need to go back a forth a lot during a mix to tweak individual clips.
Probably the single biggest shortcoming of a great idea, is eliminating the context between the project and the CC.

[Oliver Peters] “Hijacking SuperMeet last year doesn’t count ;-)”
And that went so well, I can’t believe they’re not hijacking more events .
Do we expect Adobe to premiere Premiere at NAB?

I think the PP development team is working nights and weekends scrambling to take advantage of “the opportunity”, and Adobe would like to have as much time as possible to refine it and hit a home run for the FCP7 community.

[Jason Butcher] “As I said earlier, we’re also having problems with FCP X so there could be other more serious issues, but the machine is relatively new and of decent spec…
“The FCPX issues are understandable Jason and there are ways to deal with many of them to make it better – remember to only keep the project and event you’re working on in their respective folders and to Delete Render files regularly during your sessions. You’ll still need to quit X and relaunch regularly s tat’s the only way to deal with the RAM issue.
Motion by contrast is an improvement and should be running smoothly.
