March 8, 2010 at 12:41 am in reply to: Export Using Compressor / Crashes once process startsI finally got it to export to compressor, not sure what I did. None the less, it’s been going for over 2 hours (it’s a 1 1/2 hour clip). I’m finding it’s much quicker to export a qt and drop it into compressor directly.
Since this is a window dub for a client, I’m not concerned about quality.
I was hoping to avoid qt export time and file size on the drive, but it looks like it’s not gonna go that way. Thanks,

FCP quicktime file and just bypass the whole “Export to Compressor” thing, but it’s a 1 1/2 hour program which would take some time and I’d just like to break the code on this for future use.
I’ll check out your link though, thanks!Jim Eckes

I got it to work. I turned off or disabled disk cache and that seemed to do the trick.

Yeah, did that. Still crashes. I’m sure it’s a setting of some kind, though.

Thanks,
It’s not necessarily critical listening at this point.
I’m offline editing programs for network on my home system. I’m trying
to cut out noise…dogs, talking, leaf blowers…that kind of stuff.
But I do want to retain a certain amount of quality to avoid extra work in the online process.Good info,
Thanks.Jim

This stuff was shot 1080i 24p, but apparently the hvx camera he shot it on adds the pull down or something as it shoots. You end up with a 29.97 on tape and that’s what is going into my system. So I’m guessing it’s ok.
