I do have a DVCPro HD deck that will output through firewire.
That is how I plan to acquire the footage. When I’m finished, I’m going to take it to a post house, which I have access to and export out.
I have to look closely at the PBS Red Book which has all the required deliverables, but in brief they want it delivered in 30fps. My question is can you successfully convert a 24p sequence to 30fps?
It seems to me that if I digitize my footage at 60i, i will be where I need to be from the start. I’m assuming that FCP adds the pulldown to the 24p footage on digitize and leaves you with 30fps clips.

    Am I right?

    Thanks. Great info!
My question is this, if I work in 24p, is the conversion to 60i a difficult one? How do you make that transition.
I know I can work with 24p easily and have no problem with that,
but how do I deliver the required 30 frames per second to PBS.

    Thanks again!

As reported on another post, Albert with Blackmagic helped me fix this problem. Running “Repair Permissions” in the disk utility fixed this.

    Thanks Albert!

  • Just wanted to update in case anyone else has the problem.
Shane Ross on the FCP board and Albert with Blackmagic both suggested
moving the graphics card to slot 1 and the Intensity video card to slot
    4. This seems to have solved my problem with the canvas and monitor going black in FCP.

Also, since installing the Intensity card, I was having problems opening other applications such as Soundtrack Pro and even iTunes.
Albert suggested running “Repair Permissions” in the disk utility.
This seems to have fixed this issue as well.

I can now report that I am very happy with the Blackmagic Intensity card
and I’m quite happy with tech support at Blackmagic. Props to Albert and Shane Ross for bird-dogging this one for me.

That’s it!!!!! Thanks, Rafael. I was trying to open the “item properties” menu and trying to fix there. It wouldn’t let me.
Never thought to slide my browser over to the “field” column.

Thanks again. You’ve done your good deed for the day.

    Have a good one.

    Thanks, Rafael.
My question is this. If I need the animation to be field dom off, how do I change that? The graphic seems to be locked into a upper field setting. The rest of the footage from the project is fd off. The only workaround is to change the sequence to fd upper to match the graphic.
I’m not sure what it is going to do to the rest of the footage in the sequence.
