Looking for good headphones.
Posted by Jim Eckes on November 12, 2009 at 5:54 pmI’m looking for a good pair of headphones.
I do a lot of story editing and post production and would like something
with good sound but also cuts outside noise.
ThanksJim Eckes

November 12, 2009 at 6:18 pmIf you want to cut out noise, then you need to get a ‘over ear’ model.
For our critical audio listening we use AKGs. They are a little pricy, but the sound is great. Plus they’re a little lighter than other makers so it causes less fatigue on your head/ears.
Good Luck

November 12, 2009 at 6:31 pmThanks,
It’s not necessarily critical listening at this point.
I’m offline editing programs for network on my home system. I’m trying
to cut out noise…dogs, talking, leaf blowers…that kind of stuff.
But I do want to retain a certain amount of quality to avoid extra work in the online process.Good info,
Thanks.Jim

November 13, 2009 at 6:57 pmWe use these Skull Candy headphones, which have a noise cancelling switch on them (requires 2 double As). We’ve got some of the same conditions, especially alot of lawn maintenance aggravation. Great when editing in a noisy room for offline stuff. They collapse down really well for field stuff if needed. Also, fabulous on planes.
Overstock has them on sale now too, I might get another pair!

November 15, 2009 at 7:45 pmI use Audio Technica ATH-M40fs headphones, for the price ($61.00 at Amazon) they offer amazing sound. They are not good for field work, however, due to the cable (long and not coiled) and weight.
Certainly there are better headphones if you have more money to spend, this is just my budget recommendation.
