    Thanks! Good info.

  • thanks, i did actually apply a filter to work around it. what’s interesting is that the clip is fine in the source window but when you drop it on the sequence, the blacks go up. if you edit to tape, this level
shift follows but if you export the clip as a quicktime movie, it looks fine. it’s a 30 second commercial so the finished product goes to tape, but i do export the clip as a quicktime to send to the client. anyway, it’s not that much of an issue, i can work around it. but since everything i’ve done up to a month ago was done on M100, i need to break the code on it, this won’t be the last time, i’m sure.

thanks for the input, we’ll see what happens.

  • the file in question is a Media100 quicktime move. i’m running FCP 5.0.2 on a G5 and quicktime is version 7.0.2. video card is a Kona LS.

thanks, i’ll try that next time it happens. it does seem like it could be an x,y position problem since it happens randomly.

thanks, in this case, whether i play or pause the clip, it still looks bad. i have, though, redragged the clip back onto the sequence and re-rendered. sometimes this works, other times no.

Like I mentioned in another post, the AJA Kona tech told me the engineers are aware of the problem and it’s “on the wish list”. We’ll see where that goes.
At any rate, my question has been answered, thank you. I’ll move forward.

I’ve been having discussions with the AJA Kona tech and he says the engineers are aware of the issue and it’s “on the wish list”. We all know what that means, but at least they are aware of it. The Media100 I used to work on had the option of storing vid levels for each and every clip. While generally, settings for an individual tape are enough, sometimes you get a shot or two that require a nudge in one direction or the other. The ability to re-digitize and have the levels follow is invaluable.

the video is going through a component color corrector, so yes i can correct on input, but i would like to be able to store my levels for each tape so when
i batch digitize in hi-res later, the levels will match the original input. final cut pro should be able to do this, i just can’t find it.
