In FCP using the native XDCAM EX3 format (file transfer/import) (mpeg2) the chroma key does stink – but a great workaround is to play out the clip via the SDI port on the XDCAM and recapture through SDI in (in our Aja Kona Card). Our capture setting is 1080i apple pro-res 422. It’s like making silk purse out of a sows ear.

For what ever reason this even far exceeds doing a file conversion to Pro-Res 422 in final cut. I am sure it must have something to do with the Aja Card.

Is there a way to just re-install Compressor – or do I have re-install FC pro and the other programs as well?

When I started an installation off of Disk 1 – the option to uncheck the other programs was greyed out.

    Thanks

We are just getting started with 2 FCS2 setups.
    2 computers installed fine –
1 computer was very buggy – and after 5 atempts – we finally gave up on the master install and ran each install off of each disc by itself.

So far I really haven’t noticed anything terrible – but we are only a month in. Compressor seems to be having problems in one unit.

ok here is one to file away for a future date –
    found the problem –
the editor had made alias’s of final cut and the other programs – but had moved the programs out of Applicatons folder and left the alias’s. Final cut ran – but update didn’t work – and there were bugs. Moved stuff back and everything seems fine.

We shoot on IMX 50 with the Sony Discams – I am reluctant to use it because not many others have the codec.

We have also just purchased a computer with flip factory – to export commercials in file form to our corporate server –
    It won’t convert IMX 50 or pro-res –

It just gets more fun each day!

One thing I forgot to mention – we are a broadcast station – and we are still editing in SD – we haven’t made the jump to HD.

So the codec would be for SD.

Also in what formats does the Kona LH card offer excelleration if any??

    Thanks again
