DVCPRO HD FIREWIRE, for some strange reason, was the only preset that was giving me control over the camera playback. All the others set me back to no communication. Could that have been FCP getting glitchy?

Its an interesting post, but I don’t have the exact same issue. The audio that does manage to play back is in sync and correct, its just that (when playing back from the main sequence) the underlying music is dropped out where there are gaps in the vo audio if that makes sense.
