September 10, 2013 at 12:08 pm in reply to: Cheap options for multi camera kit to match Sony FS100Currently just running the Sony lenses which I would like to improve on so adding a Canon lens and a couple of Rebels to match is a great idea. Looks like I’ve got a little bit more budget to play with too so can definitely afford to look at these.
Thanks for the reply Neil.

Thanks for the tips guys.
Wasn’t aware of Trapcode but it’s a great suite so getting busy now working it out.

Aha – don’t know how I managed to do that. Rookie error.
Thanks very much for sorting me out. Much obliged.

Thanks Dan – I really appreciate you taking a look at this.
I’ve attached the project and media below with the stock arrows mask expression revealed. I’m trying to use an expression to make the arrows reveal and conceal at a tempo I can easily tweak and then replicate for the second set of arrows (preferably by pick whipping the expression but otherwise just by adding the same frequency/time value).
Let me know if you need anything else.
Cheers

Hi Dan
I must be doing something wrong as it doesn’t seem to do anything at all. It doesn’t give me an error though so perhaps there is something I’m missing.
I’ve attached a screenshot below which shows the expression and the keyframes as well as the mask path as it is halfway through revealing the arrow layer from AI. At the moment, when the keyframes end the path stops moving.
Thanks

t1 = key(1).time;
t2 = key(numKeys).time;
span = t2 - t1;
delta = time - t2;
seg = Math.floor(delta/span);
t = delta%span;
valueAtTime((seg%2) ? (t1 + t) : (t2 - t));

March 11, 2013 at 5:09 pm in reply to: If I get interference, what should my first steps be in trying to solve things?I’m also running EW100/EK100’s but the G3s and I think I’m having the same problem.
I’ve attached some audio with a couple of instances of what sounds like electronic interference.
I endeavor to remove mobile/cell phones and other wifi devices from around the receiver/transmitter and I’ve instructed my talent to keep the receiver away from his body (both things I’ve read contribute to this problem) but it keeps happening regardless. I can see no discernible pattern.
I’m wondering if there is a fault with the receiver/transmitter or the lav mic cable (which admittedly doesn’t look in great shape) so any advice would be helpful.
Thanks

March 2, 2013 at 6:14 pm in reply to: Using a vector shape layer to reveal another layerThat’s a perfect solution. Simple and effective.
Thanks so much – I’ve been melting my brain for days trying to achieve this and I knew there had to be a simple way to do it but I couldn’t seem to stop over-engineering it.
Really appreciate the demo project too – above and beyond the call of duty.
Have a great weekend.

March 2, 2013 at 5:06 pm in reply to: Using a vector shape layer to reveal another layerHi John
Thanks for your help.
I actually want the vector shape (in this case a plane) to act like a mask and reveal the text (like a mask set to add) as it moves over it so that it remains on screen after the plane has continued (rather than just being visible through the plane shape as with a track matte). I had in mind to extend the size of the mask once the plane has passed through so that the text would remain visible.
Let me know if this is not making sense – I’m not sure I’m explaining it very clearly.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Some really great feedback. I didn’t expect that I’d be able to produce all of those elements in AE but it’s reassuring to know that many of them (or perhaps all of them) can be.
Perhaps I’m overstating it when I say I’m new to AE; I’m a professional video producer but my strength is on the editing and shooting side rather than motion graphics. That said I do know my way around AE and I’m looking to improve my AE skills so the more I can do in AE the better. I’ve already been eyeing off Element 3D so that looks like a good starting point, especially given some of the packs it has. Blender has also been on my wish list for a while so perhaps Blender or a trial of C4D should be my next step.
Thanks again and have a great weekend.
Cheers

January 15, 2013 at 10:25 am in reply to: Quick Keyboard-Click Zooming on the Program Monitor Window?Am I right in thinking that this is still not a feature of PP in CS6? I agree with Keith that this would be very useful and I’m quite surprised it doesn’t exist already.
Does anybody else think this is a good idea? Or are there other work arounds for resizing frames in PP in the Program window which make it unnecessary?
Thanks
Jesse
