  • Others can give you a better answer than I can but why can’t you render out the clip to avi from AE and bring it into Vegas?

Thanks. That sounds reasonable. Do you have any idea how I could do that without knowing?

Gary, I was creating the new track with the button I added by customizing the toolbar. How could that be track properties?

But the word is that Vegas 7 (coming out in Sept) will edit HD from DXCAM.

Why not put the original date in the name of the new render?

Thanks for the suggestions but I didn’t find the answer. Even when I opened new tracks they came up musted so I finally duplicated a track that wasn’t muted, deleted the events on it and copied the muted ones to the new track. That worked, so I deleted the muted track. I still don’t have a clue as to what it was.

I also think you did an excellent job with the magazine. I didn’t have time to read it until I got back from NAB. I was very impressed and wished I had read it before.

Sorry about the spelling. It appeared to me that the handle functioned that way. The extra handle at the end helped rotate the camera and it was very easy to focus on an object and then move the camera around it, panning the background. It is difficult to describe but functions very easily. I found the whole operation of the crane to be very intuitive. The cameraman there said in about 20 minutes one could learn to do anything with it and I didn’t doubt him.

Do yourself a big favor and download a trial version of “Connect HD” as http://www.cineform.com — the capture is easier, it scene detects and will create editable files for Vegas that respond like they are DV – no use of proxies. If your machine is slow, you may have to first capture to m2t then convert to the avi files. If fast, the capture/convert can be done in one step. The scene detect will occur in the conversion either way. Vegas doesn’t scene detect.
