how can i make an explosion effect?
Posted by John Corino on May 9, 2006 at 10:26 pmI’m trying to finish this movie with a person exploding. I shot the person in the background, and then shot a clean background. I figure I’ll cut the person out and put a blue background or transparent background on him in photoshop. I’ll have just that one image, so does anyone know how i can make him explode and then chromakey that image into my video?
thank you in advanceJohn Corino replied 19 years, 12 months ago 7 Members · 8 Replies -

May 9, 2006 at 11:00 pmgoto http://www.debugmode.com and Satish still has the PluginPAC Shatter 3D and all of the others he had written – the Shatter 3d will probably do what you need but I THINK it’s all a part of the WAX plugin now.
Check it out at his website.Don B

May 10, 2006 at 12:14 amHey Corino, ultimately you should have shot the actor in front of a blue or green screen, and then your background footage, separately. Then you would have the most flexibility. But failing that, I get quite good results using “Royalty Free” explosion footage from https://www.detonationfilms.com and using “Royalty Free” audio samples of explosions. You can use chromakeying or luminance with their free footage. I made this short little demo using three of their explosions and about 5 audio samples. https://www.video.google.com/videoplay?docid=940868940978809442&q=Mart+Steve+Vai It’s the video called “Explosion”.

May 10, 2006 at 12:22 amI tried WAX but wasn’t getting good results. I went to detonation films and only saw explosions. I need to find something that will actually explode or shatter a frame.
