I’d ask for other than h.264 as a source file. Can you get something better?

Fc express doesn’t support editing h.264 files so in your case, you need to transfer your footage to the AIC codec. Then edit from tho files. Or buy FCP X. (Better solution for sure)

Export a self contained movie and try opening that.

Don’t think so. Why would you want to do this? It’s the same software really. You might call Apple and get your money back.

Why not see for yourself? try a shot with movement in it. Transcode to Proxy and 422 and HQ… then look at them on an HD monitor.

Post the format of the source material… DV? HDV? DSLR footage? or?
Then post the workflow that is causing you to reconnect in the first place… why is this needing to be done, and how you moved media (if that’s the case) in the first place. Using Media manager makes a HUGE difference instead of just dragging files around on your desktop.

Since nobody answered for a couple of days, I’ll post a thought…
Are there or is there a control panel or app which sets up the decklink? Check that for sure… sounds like a deckling problem so might also reinstall it’s drivers.

Try transcoding them to ProRes 4:2:2 and change the frame size to 640X480. Maintain the same frame rate you shot.
