July 25, 2011 at 4:25 pm in reply to: installing PNY nvidia quadro 4000 Mac

    Really?

The box says “quadro 4000 for Mac”

CD-ROM label says Quadro Driver CD for Mac but there are only Windows Drivers and all if the Manual PDF files only mention Windows or Linux. There are no Mac drivers on it.

A Mini Display Port cable is included. I’m new to Macs after building PCs and Windows machines for twenty years. I thought this type of display connectors were Max specific.

The model number on the card itself is VCQ4000MAC-T which is the PNY product number for the Mac card.

I noticed after my post that the box says that a power cable is included.

It really looks like I have a Quadro 4000 for Mac with a CD-ROM that had the wrong files burned on it and missing the power cable.

It look like the power cable plugs into a standard 6-pin slot on the card. I probably have a power cable laying around here.

Died anyone know what the other end of the cable plugs into? Is it a 4-pin slot on the motherboard? That is the ONLY place I can see where it can plug into when I open the case.

If so, I have a power cable that would work.

I can’t find a Mac Installation guide anywhere and PNY isn’t very responsive.

I didn’t get a power cable with the PNY Quadro 4000 for Mac. It didn’t come with a Mac installation guide either. The Windows CD-ROM that came with it has a Windows User Guide that says if the 4000 needs power it would come with a power cable.

Should I just get my money back or should I contact PNY to send me a missing power cable? I don’t even see in my 2008 Mac Pro where I would plug in a power cable…

  • Hi Tim,

    I figured it out.

My assistant who mounted the “breakout box” didn’t connect the SDI cables. He thought that all you needed to do was connect the one “big ‘snake’ cable” that the “breakout box” replaced. Every connection is handle with that except the SDI.

Thanks for the help though. No wonder it was acting like there wasn’t a connection 😉

  • Hi Tim,

I’m not in front of my editing machine, I’ll post the settings tonight. I tried quite a few different settings, even setting the HD Connect LE to convert and output 720p. I’ll post the one I think should be working.

I’m using one of those Aja “breakout boxes” that are rack-mount. I forgot what they call it, but it is the box that fits in the rack on my editing desk that the Aja board plugs into. The connections are clearly labelled on it. I’m plugging the HD Connect LE into the SDI In on that.

(I used to plug cables into the wrong place too, like you mentioned, which is why I bought the “box” – I’m glad I did, makes life easier.)

I’m hoping someone will pop into the discussion here with a link to a $50 device that will test an sdi signal. I’d love to have a little box that I can plug the HD Connect LE’s SDI into that lights up if there is a signal. Or maybe some sort of universal A/V signal tester that isn’t too expensive?

I might have to buy one of those SDI to HDMI converts for $500. I’d just hate to do that, just to test the signal. (I can find a use for a box that converts HDMI to HD-SDI, but I don’t think that will help me)

You’d think I could use a voltmeter or oscilloscope and test the presence of a signal.

I didn’t get much help from the HD Connect LE support. They are saying it must be a setting on the Aja (which I understand, but I was hoping for a suggestion from them, for a way to test the presence of a signal on the HD Connect LE’s SDI out)

I haven’t heard back from Aja support. I’ll give them one more day before I send another email to them.

    Thanks,

    Jeron

  • Hi Tim,

I’m feeding it a 1080i signal from a Sony HVR-M1U connected via firewire to the HD Connect LE.

I’m able to view the signal out of the the analog component connectors of the HD Connect LE.

Machina keeps giving me the no video signal in the capture area (bottom right) of the capture tab.

If I could figure out how to check if there is a signal coming out of the HD-SDI connector it would help. I just don’t have any other SDI equipment.

Anyone out there have a Xena connected to an HD Connect LE with a 108I signal via Machina that can post a screenshot of their Machina Capture settings? Or at least list them? I’m not sure I have the correct settings in Machina…

Anyone know of any cheap SDI signal testers?

I wish I could justify buying a piece of equipment that accepts an SDI input…

    Thanks,

    Jeron

Hmmm, I still can’t get Boris 5 to work at all with CS4. Boris support hasn’t given me any help either.

I’m not seeing any “slashes” in your explanation there Enzo.

Are you saying there should be a file called, “BorisFX BCC5.ini” in a folder called “Windows” off of the root of drive C:? Or in other words a file called “BorisFX BCC5.ini” inside the folder in which I installed Vista 64?

If I pay for the upgrade to Boris 6 will the install work on Vista 64? There isn’t any new features or filters worth the $300, but I’m getting to the point where I’ve wasted more than $300 of my time trying to get Boris 5 to work.

Has anyone bought BCC 6 and got it running just by running the install exe that comes with it?

    Hi,

I have the same problem. I tried the fix suggested here. AE opens but Premiere Pro still hangs on “Loading Windows Media”. Boris FX support hasn’t been any help either.

I’m not sure if I completed the fix suggested here. I created the WindowsBorisFX BCC5.inf in C: and set the security. When I go into AE and apply a Boris OpenGL filter, then check the Enable OpenGL checkbox in the dialog with the Test Button after running the test I don’t see a BorisFX BCC5.inf file anywhere and the WindowsBorisFX BCC5.inf file is still empty.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Jeron

February 3, 2009 at 6:14 pm in reply to: Sony Vegas not recognizing AJA vide

I literally spent an entire year going back and forth with Sony support and NEVER could get Vegas to see the AJA board.

    So good luck 🙁

Oops sorry, I misread your post. You aren’t trying to get the card to work. just the files…

I went back and forth for almost a year with Sony and got absolutely nowhere.

I couldn’t get anyone at Sony to tell me they have actually seen Vegas work with the Xena. I gave up and went back to Premiere Pro.

Heh heh, in that case, my response was the rhetorical post 😉

A quick Google search tells me you got a good deal. You didn’t say if it was new or used. I assumed used, since you didn’t get a cable with the card.
