  • I set a 5 second compositon on my timeline. then into Edit mode I imported in movie media on 2 separate tracks. I positioned them on the right and left sides of the wcreen respectfully. Only one track is seen at a time. I have to shu the eye of one track to see the other play.
I do not know where the Crop is you mentioned. I have the tracks all unlocked.

How can I see them both run at the same time? also can i have a vertical line in the middle to visually separate them?

    thanks, jerome

  • Thanks Floh. I now have the split screen with each track playing in separate sides. Now for the fine tuning… Each track is playing its full frame video so there is an overlap of each that is hidden by the other half.

What I want to have is the full image of each track playing in its side of the window so you can see the comparison frame to frame as it plays by. Is there some way to compress the images ( I realize there will be some distortion)? or Can I move the center of each tracks image over to the left or right so they look centered in their respective sides of the screen?

    Thanks, ,Jerome

  • Thanks for the quick response. Could you please add detail in the process?
I have 2 8 second clips. I have them lined up on over the other in A & B tracks. I dragged across the length of the clips for a trnsition then chose Wipe-FastFX, I highlighted the vertical box on the side. But, when I play it it only plays the A track in preview. i clicked the Trim Mode and it shows the the A & B tracks in 2 screens side by side. But I need some more step by step please.
    thanks for your patience.

[Michael Slowe] ” Do you see a big quality difference between your direct record to a ‘set top’ DVD machine and what I would call a ‘proper’ encode, format and burn using BitVice and Studio Pro? And, do you find there are compatability issues with other players using a ‘set top’ recorder?”

I am pretty new to Bitvice and StudioPro and at first the set top was definetly superior. However, after working with the settings I would rate them the same now.

As for compatibility issues, I have made hundreds and hundreds of DVDs on my 2 set tops (one is R+ & the other R-) over the last 4 years. I have only had 5 problems. Three were compatibility issues with their players being manufactured prior to 2000. The other 2 issues were with bad media.

For the last 8 months I always use Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden DVDs and have had no issues.

[Kieran Matthew] “As an asside though, one of the cow users (Jerome I think) posted a while back that he was using a Philips DVDR-615 that worked with Media 100 firewire control directly. If he’s around, perhaps he can chip in with his experiences ?”

It really is a great convenience to be able to make a DVD in realtime. The finalizing process takes only a couple of minutes. In the Hardware menu I select “no machine control and generic DV” then when you Master to Tape check the DV box hit the Master to tape button and manually hit record on the Philips 615 ( R+).

My Panasonic DMR-E60 (R-) will not accept the signal from Media 100. So, I sometimes will Master to Tape on my DSR-30 or DSR-11 deck and then output the firewire to the Panasonic Standalone recorder for a DVD.

If you still want to use your Desktop recorder for making DVDs for customers, I would suggest mastering to dv tape and then outputing via firewire to your deck. It is fast and for those customers that do not need menus it works just fine.

I personally do have BitVice and DVDStudioPro but spend the time to use them only on special as needed projects.

    good luck,

  • Thanks for the responses.

This is what happens when I drag my 40 second Audio .MOV which is 8.7 MB into Compressors “source Media” window.

The file is listed in a highlighted line. For settings I choose Audio formats > Dolby 2.0, I hit Submit… It looks like it is doing it and then I get the error message “The application Batch Monitor has unexpectedly quit.”

    I can’t get passed this.

  • I have a 9 minute video in Media 100. I exported as a reference QT Movie I then put it in BitVice and checked the Use Studio RGB and set the bit rate from 8.3 to 7 and the minimum from 3.2 to 4. It rendered OJ I then went to DVD StudioPro4 did my menu adn tried to burn a DVD. I got the error messge Video Bit Rate Too High.

I then went back and compressed the same movie over and checked the Use Studio RGB but left the rest alone so 8.30 and 3.20 were the bit rate defaults. I then took it into DVDstudioPro4. It then seemed to burn a DVD OK without error messages. But when I went to play it in a player. the player said it could not read it. The DVD player on my computer can’t either.

Being how this is all new to me it is frustrating when I spend so much time and nothing to show for it.

Anyway, any ideas as to what is going on and how to remedy would be apprciated.

    Thanks,

    jerome

  • I took the computer into an Apple store and a technician checked it out, ran some programs then re-installed Panther. So, I am running again.

NTSC In the Audio Effects I selected 60Hz Cut2
I left Hi and Mid on Notch and set Lo EQ on Hum Cut
the selected audio track turns magenta but I do not hear anything different. the hum is still there.

    Any suggestions?
