Holy smokes, man, you just saved my bacon over here. This, thankfully, was the first result in my Google search to try and get around this and holding shift and opening the project worked like a champ.

    Thank you for sharing!

I set After Effects to use only 7 of my 8 cores and never had this issue again.

Try setting it to use 10 or 11 of yours and see if that helps.

I’m pretty sure the presentation software needs it to be 1080i60. It’s garbage software, but I can’t replace it yet.

Also, it needs to get edited into a longer 1080i60 file. So at the end I really need a 1080i60 file for that if nothing else.

    Thanks, Shane. Appreciate the help.

Through a program called ProPresenter that requires the footage be DVCPROHD 1080i60. Out of a Blackmagic Card component into the projector.

You need some sort of a clean plate to clone to. I did this effect for a video and have a character stay in frame the entire time as well, but I had the camera steady and used a still when his head wasn’t in that location to fill in when his head exploded.

Without that, you’re sort SOL. You might be able to pull off a great photoshop job on one frame and remove him, then place that behind your footage.

Couldn’t you precomp the text then and have the adjustment layer only effect the text layer, then composite that precomp with the characters?

Your description was tough to follow, but it sounds like that would work.

What if you put the filter on an adjustment layer above the text and masked that?

And because they’re just AE presets, the download is maybe 1mb.

Other than that, hue/saturation, curves, etc are your friends.

If you link the ball to a null object, you can make 3 keyframes per bounce and then just shape the motion to be more parabolic. Still have to make 3 key frames for every bounce, but I don’t see a way out of that one, unless it’s making the same exact movement every time, then an expression would work

    Sorry to double post, but…

If you were strategic about shooting, the tutorial AK has on his site about the Face Warp would let you replace the eyes with other eyes. It’d be hard to pull off, but possible.
