    Chrispy,

Your best option here would be a Teranex for the video and have a seasoned audio post house slow down the audio and pitch shift it for you.

  • [walter biscardi] “Quite honestly, you really don’t even need HQ to work in ProRes. I heard from some colleagues that after questioning Apple at NAB, ProRes is actually a great codec in itself and there is no perceptible difference between it and HQ.”

This is not true if you are working with 1080 23.976 material. From the testing we’ve done so far, there is a very perceptible difference between ProRes 422 and ProRess 422 HQ. When looking at solid colors, like a blue sky for example, we’ve seen very noticeable artifacting, in ProRes 422, that is not present in HQ. The ProRes 422 HQ file is almost indistinguishable from the original uncompressed file, but the ProRes 422 file has clear artifacting. We’re still testing.

    Walter,

Have you done any test with ProRes 422 HQ on it yet?

Very true! You absolutely have to plan well and really keep your media organized with FCP. It’s nothing like Avid in this sense, you just have to be smart about it and stay one step ahead.

[Bob Zelin] “who let Terry in here !”

I’m glad that we’re starting to see more and more old school L’rs on the cow. With FCS 2, I think we’re going to see a lot more of them popping up here.

Before ProRes, I think that DNxHD was really the last major thing that Adrenaline had over FCP. But, now that we have ProRes and I see that it’s working, I think we may finally lay our Adrenaline to rest.

    [tcurren] “Try 1080 30.”

    Hey Terry,

I’m continuing with more tests today. 1080 25 works fine, 1080 30 does not. I tried multiple times and it started dropping frames just after a few seconds. This is no problem for me, being that I mostly work with 23.976 and a little 25. But for the majority of the US market who works in 29.97, then it seems as though you’re out of luck with a Quad G5. I’d be curious to here if anyone does get it working, but my guess is that you simply need more processing power to crunch the codec. I’ll continue testing away and report back if I come across any interesting info.

    best regards,

[Sean ONeil] “How much memory does your system have?”

    4 gigs

  • [Shane Ross] “The HD Pro will also be networkable…accessable by multiple machines.”

Shane is there any more info or literature about this? This could make this a very interesting product.
