Obviously, multiple TBs can’t be duplicated in seconds, so there must be something that is happening that isn’t normal.

I recently completed a project in 8k with no issues, but I did notice the Red Apple software didn’t support FCPX over 6k or something like that.
But I crossed my finger and it worked.

That’s all you need to do. I typically set the storage location as a folder in with the rest of the media. I usually call it “ProjectName_FCPX_GeneratedMedia”. This folder is a repository for copied media, rewrapped media, and optimized/proxy transcodes.
Your colleague will have to setup a folder, and if there’s already one setup, then he imply needs to point FCPX to where that folder is on the drive. Typically, this folder remains empty for me as I don’t rewrap media, and I rarely generate optimized or Proxy files.
As far as the Cache, he needs to setup a new cache location, which is also very easy. I do not keep in the cache in the library (as it will get huge). I have my cache set to my boot drive, but you can put it anywhere, hopefully on the fastest drive that is attached to the machine, and can handle the space.
Once these small pointers are setup, he will be able to reconnect and edit.

That is a video and audio clip that have been synchronized by audio, tc, or manually and the result of that process creates a new clip, called a synchronized clip

Social media sites do their own compression and compress it down to nothing so it is cellular friendly. Not much to do except upload the highest quality video you possibly can, like ProRes or high bit rate mp4.

There’s a “cheap” way to do this by selecting the skin tones and blurring shadows in to oblivion.
You’d use the color corrector, add a color mask, select the skin tone add or remove color, and then blur it a bunch. You can control the blur through a garbage mask (shape mask as FCPX calls it).
I don’t have a machine in front of me right now, or else I’d post screengrabs.
Sometimes I find those digital makeup kits make the subject look too plasticy.
