Not me, I couldn’t. But I would hope it would come with a Proxy workflow that isn’t so restrictive.
I was expecting a Spring FCPX release. It has happened nearly every year since release.

I’m a little disappointed too. NAB was supposed to have started Saturday the 18th.
I know COVID has upended all of it, but if there were no COVID, would Apple not be issuing a release for NAB? They usually release something in the Spring not necessarily tied to NAB, but not even that has happened.
Seems odd that there is nothing after the official MacPro deployment as well.
With everything going on, it would absolutely suck to try and move to a new NLE platform in the middle of trying to figure out how to get everything working remotely.
There’s the stress of changing of workflow in a familiar environment, and then there’s the stress of changing of an entire philosophy when the forum has moved to Constantinople.
FCPX on iPads? Does that mean we will have a better Proxy workflow, because that would be amazing right about now.

“No reason to export, just use compressor on the footage that’s already on your harddrive.

Clipwrap will take the footage and rewrap it.
So you give it 29.97i AVCHD, it will rewrap that (without touching it, jsut a new container) to 29.97i h264. Basically moving the data from one bucket to another. There is no loss of quality, it will be the same quality as the inout format.
It can also transcode, to ProRes or other codec, but the format will stay the same, 29.97i or whatever the footage the format is.
Compressor will take the input format, and you can process it to another codec AND frame rate (or size). So if you need to remove pulldown Compressor can take the 29.97i telecine footage, remove the pulldown and leave 23.976 footage in whatever codec you want.
Make sense? Either wya is fine, it’s just depends on what you want in the output footage.

Clipwrap usually rewraps the footage, so the frame rate and interlacing output will the same as the input.
Compressor will modify the footage in taking the input and processing to another output format.

It’s a lot relinking media, but you point premiere at the proxies and it relink to them. You can then setup a button to view either original or proxy media.

Can’t you “attach proxies” in Premiere to help mitigate this so that Premiere doesn’t generate proxies, but rather looks for the proxies that were already generated?
