I would try and delete your render files (audio and video). I have found that sometimes, somehow an audio file gets rendered into a video file and causes the drop out you speak of. I know it’s a pain to rerender all of the effects, but it’s your best bet.
The way to ensure that you are deleting all of the files is to quit FCP, then delete all of the render files from that project, and all of the audio render files from that project. Open FCP, select the sequence>render selection menu and make sure everything is checked (has a check mark next to it), and also do the same for the sequence>render all menu. Rerender your project and you should be good to go.

If you have a newer mac with a dual layer DVD burner, run out and get some Dual layer DVD+Rs and burn up the footage to that. You should be able to fit all of the footage to a dual layer.

Thanks for catching me on this one. Kevin is right, mine is mapped to cmd-d, like photoshop. Command-shift-a is, in fact, the default to deselect all. Sorry about that.

SO you are saying rendering or mixing down fixes the problem? SOunds like that filter is taxing your system. Just be sure to render and you’re good.

Easy, hit apple-d (to deselect everything) then zoom. One more keystroke will get what you want.

Can’t help with the scrolling of the timeline, except for the scroll keystroke. This is a flaw and should be fixed.

If you can, spring for the 24″. I got mine for a song, and you just can’t beat the value of the dell. Our other system has two 23″ apples displays, and the Dell sitting at my desk is certainly as good if not better. It’s an awesome monitor for the price.

The aja io is a standard definition only system. You will need a Kona LH (or LHe if you have a new PCIe mac) to ingest the analog HD signal from SONY HDV decks/cameras.

You cannot look at HDV footage through an io.
