[Mark Raudonis] “You realize that you’re posting in the FCP forum, don’t you?”

Yep. That’s why I’m asking here. It’s because we use FCP. According to the description it looks as though it bypasses the automatic duck step when mixing FCP with Avid projects. We have a mix of systems at our company and anything that makes them play nice together is helpful.

I’ll cross post in the Avid forum as well. It just seems like more FCP people have come from Avid backgrounds than Avid people from FCP backgrounds.

[Larry Melton] “But I’m certain that there are message boards all over the internet for plumbers, HVAC guys, auto service technicians, or any one of dozens of other areas I know nothing about, and they’re full of ridiculous, laughable comments and questions that I asked.

So I feel a little better that occasionally, I can brighten their days as well. “

    Amen to that!

I like the set up. Just one question based on the photos… What are you using for a preview monitor? I didn’t see one on your side of the desk.

[Todd Terry] “I’m guessing by far it was the cheapest of the SB commercial spots… and my opinion by far the best. “

I don’t know, all the Dorito ads were made for a contest, so Dorito’s only spent money 25k because non were voted best of the super bowl.

After seeing Avatar, I agree that you are right. I just wish they could make it happen without glasses. I mean, I paid good money for lasik so I could get rid of them!

You can now feel a little better about your situation with the supreme court ruling a week ago that allows for corporate spending on political ads. Good or bad, this should certainly clear your boss of any wrong doing.

Being from MN, I’d have to say one of the funniest uses was when Favre joined the Vikings.

December 2, 2009 at 4:03 am in reply to: Do I have the right to ask for royalties?

[Shane Ross] “Television crew don’t get royalties for shows that are then sold on DVD. Nor are feature crews. They are “below the line,” meaning that they were hired to perform a job and were paid for that job. The only people who get royalties are those “above the line.” Directors, producers, writers, actors, studio. “

How is the line determined? Just curious as I know the DP and Editor are just as much part of telling the story as the actors.

[Mark Suszko] “An email link button that just invokes your system’s mail program, instead of giving you an actual address you can cut and paste. That makes me mad. I don’t have Apple’s Mail app configured on my computer, Never use it, so when I hit one of these links to grab the address I want to paste into the web-based email I DO use, I don’t get anything except the auto-configure dialog for signing up with Apple Mail. And they leave no other way to determine the address. Makes me all stabby.”

Not that I don’t find this annoying, but you can set your default mail app in your browser preferences so it will pop up which ever app you use for your email then you don’t have to worry about Apple’s mail popping up.
