This should be a breeze with a locked tripod shot. And you don’t even need C4D to do it. I would put the shot in After Effects, create your text, make it a 3D layer. Then rotate and scale as needed, and maybe play with some overlay modes or slight masking (cracks, grunge) to make it look more real.
Also, don’t make the letters pure white. Try to make them match the white balance of the scene. Hope this helps, and good luck!

Just curious, which program are you assembling in that doesn’t use masking?

June 13, 2012 at 8:13 pm in reply to: Make objects invisible as they pass behind non rendering geometryCould you not run it through After Effects, using Object buffers to mask what you need, and then import the results with alpha channels back to your non-masking software?

June 5, 2012 at 10:47 pm in reply to: rendering normal/reflection maps to enable remapping in After EffectsI think what you want is a UV Pass instead of a Normal Pass. Once you Apply YouVeelizer or Re:Map to your reflection image using the UV pass, it should break up the reflection image and give the illusion of that image being reflected on your planes. I think.
Some things are just hard to communicate with written words 🙂 Someone else may be able to confirm this idea or give another solution. Good luck!

Could you pre-render the puppet effect with alpha, import that and then put the spin on it?

There is an app called File Wrangler that allows you to quickly rename files in a folder anyway you want. So you could put each image sequence in a folder and re-number them from zero. May be worth a look.

October 28, 2011 at 6:18 pm in reply to: Angle of comp automatically controls angle of layer inside compOk, I was afraid of that.
My solution is to use a slider on a null layer inside the L3 comp to control the drip angles. It works fine, I just have to take the extra step of going inside each L3 and adjusting the angle of the drips. I was hoping for something more automatic but I guess sometimes you just gotta do it the hard way. 🙂
Thanks again for your time!

October 28, 2011 at 5:59 pm in reply to: Angle of comp automatically controls angle of layer inside compHey thanks for your time Dan.
Would there be any way to go the opposite way like I mentioned? Could you have an expression on the L3 comp that tells the drip inside the L3 comp to be a certain angle?
