It looks clearer in FCP when I change the compression to 4:3 instead of 3:2. However, it still cuts off the sides when it is exported to QT Movie. I’ve been playing with the different export settings in Camtasia. It seems the odd size of 720by486 4:3 looks the best when taken into FCP. However, whenever I take it into FCP, it always tries to stick the 3:2 aspect on it when it looks the best in 4:3.

Some more information, all the files from both cameras came from Panasonic DVX100B’s filmed on DV Tapes in 24p 720 Squeeze mode.
Would there be any codec that Premiere CS4 on a PC may have added to the AVI’s to make them appear strange in Quicktime and FCP? I.E. some files show as 853×480, others 640×480?

I am combining the two sets of clips into one sequence. No idea why they were injested into premiere this way, because both cameras are the same as well.

Or am I forced to chop off the left and right of the full wide shot?

I need all the clips to be one frame size, right now there are two: 853×480 and 640x 480.
What additional settings do I need use in compressor to make everything one size without making the one set of clips look squished?

Thanks for everyone’s help, for some reason the DVD’s sent to us are upper field first.
Should the file size be a lot more for ProRes than DV? We are working with limited HD space.

Tried that too, I hold down option when I go out of the project, then I go back to AE and even though I’ve already selected a color, it selects the default AE grey of what I am clicking on.

Why am I seeing “upper field first” when I’m in MSC then direct from the DVD?

BTW, I am seeing the quality option for Apple ProRes 422.
