Levelator is like automatic gain control. It brings up the low spots and ‘levels’ out the audio. Sometimes it’s great other times it’s not, especially if you have a sensitive mic and talent with an empty stomach.

DVDA is going to ensure a compliant video. This is to say that Vegas can render an mpeg at 12Mb bit-rate, but this won’t really work in a DVD player. DVDA will re-compress this video, so your product will work. On the File menu in DVDA try the Optimize disk function. If DVDA requires a re-compress, find out why. The best practice I have found is to make all my video so that DVDA does not need to change it.
Now then, if you have used the templates in Vegas and still need to recompress, it is because you have too much video (length-wise) to fit on the medium. This is where a bitrate calculator come in. If you need to take a look at this post: forums.creativecow.net/thread/24/935307#935307

You can make whatever you want in a .png with a transparent background, then using track motion, move, rotate, or even twirl it on the track above your .jpg.

track header (the part where the mute & level controls are) click on track motion and in that box at the bottom left is a checkbox for 2d shadow.

Put the tv scene and the underlying video on child tracks and pan the parent track.

Have you tried creating a ‘notch’ in an equalizer and dropping just that range that the buzz is in?

I’m with you Steve, I got a production machine that I must keep productive. But, I also have a test machine to figure out what might cause problems with each build. Mike and John’s comments are positive.
When I wrote software we had ‘incidental’ problems that could be addressed later. We would never let a catastrophic release out of the barn like Sony creative has been known to do.
