OK Eddie, I have a pretty good picture of what you are doing.

It looks like you have full HD footage and you are keeping it that way. Good.

It is always good to keep full-res, in case you want to use it later. However, DVDA uses only 1/6 of that resolution. The specs on DVD’s are very strict so all the players in the world will be able to play them. To be within spec your footage needs to be: 720×480 pixels; <9.5Mbps (bitrate); in the MPEG-2 format.

Open up a new project in Vegas. Set the project properties to NTSC DV Widescreen (720×480, 29.970 fps). Put your finished movie, (the one you put in DVDA) on the timeline and render it twice. 1 – as MainConcept Mpeg-2 using the template: “DVD Architect NTSC Widescreen video stream”, 2 – as Dolby Digital AC-3 Pro using the template “Stereo DVD”.

When you have these files open your DVDA project and replace the source video with the Mpeg-2 and the source audio with the AC3 for the feature. (Use the media tab for the movie file.) Your render in DVDA with the new files should be under 2 minutes.

I know it sounds like a lot, but you will get it pretty easy. If you have any problems just ask. I can post some pictures.

Let us know how it works,

  • Try:

If auto-ripple is off then use ctrl-shift-F, this will auto ripple the blank space created by the deleted material. Then hit the “\” key and your cursor should be in the center of the timeline.

I hope this is what you meant.

    Eddie,

click on the text “dvda2ndchapmenu.jpg [x]” so the picture displays on the left side. Then copy the “Embed” code. Paste that into your message. I will have to wait until the morning to see your workflow, so double check your post with the “preview post” button.

    Eddie,

I can’t see any of your screen shots. Once you upload the picture to creative cow, copy the code that it gives you to reference the picture in your post. Paste that code into your message. Use the preview post button to check that your graphics are loading.

btw, if I’m right, it will save you hours and your deadline will be rescued.

They are completely trustworthy. I have used their flagship product, vegasaur, for years. In fact I felt bad with a less than stellar review of their new offering.

I tried it out. It’s a quick and visual way to apply FX packages to media. However, it would be truly useful if I could add my own presets and thumbnails. As it is, I don’t think I would get much use out of it.

    Eddie,

If it takes 6 hours in DVDA then you did not encode right in Vegas. Your build in DVDA should take about 2-3 minutes. Tops! Give us as much file details for your main feature as you can. (size, bitrate, etc.) What template do you use in Vegas? Are you encoding separate streams? (Mpeg and AC3?) Take some screen shots.

This is where you need to start looking.
