Thanks once again. One other quick question on thumbnail view. Will I need to set a higher cache for so many clips? I’m assuming if I set the preference to view as thumbnail that it will apply to all bins simultaneously. Our can you just look at it that way for a single selected bin?

As to your PS. My storage is a RAID array via PCIe on a CalDigit HDPro using Raid 5 (if I remember correctly).

Thanks for the great suggestions Loic. I will be starting over, but not completely. I may take a different approach on viewing the bins. Rather than trying to add logging notes on all of the clips (7,5000 of them) I’ll try to view by small icon.

This is something I’ve never done as I’m not crayz about how this workes in the browser- kind of clunky and hard to see spread over the page. Will this approach be a memory hog, or are these thumbnails always loaded every time you open a project whether you use them or not?

This question goes back to one of my original concerns that I may not have enough RAM for this project (8 GB at present).

Thought I’d add, even though I got a version to work, still puzzled at what happened and concerned it will recur as I start the edit, which will be a 1- hour doc.

Yes, I went back to before adding text in the description column, and that opens and all links to media seem to be fine.

    About 59MB.

Doesn’t make sense that this is too large. The only ideas I have is the addition of so much text in the description field (only barely into doing them all), or running out of RAM, or maybe a preference corruption. When I got the program to open once after several crashes, it didn’t show a timeline and it was greyed out the view choice. There had been one before.

    Walter,

What’s your conversion process of EX to ProRes?

    Sam,

Did you have any other upgrade issues. I’m about to upgrade several things to get FCP capibiities for XDCAM EX editing.

    FCP 6.0.1 > 6.0.5
    OSX 10.5.2 > 10.5.6
    QT 7.4.1 > 7.6

also upgrades to my Hardware: AJA IO HD & CalDigit HDPro Array

Will I have any issues upgrading from 6.01 to 6.05? I need to be able to edit XDCAM.

I’m also at system 10.5.2 and QT 7.4.1, so I’m assuming I will need to upgrade this as well.

    Thanks,
