    I wouldn’t use ProRes422LT. Choose ProRes422.

  • Jumping off what Jeremy said. FCP does not do well with TC that isn’t contiguous, i.e. TOD TC. Let’s say a shot ends at 09:24:12;15 (TOD) and the next shot starts at 09:24:13;01 FCP will consider this a TC break even though there is continuous TC and no actual break. FCP isn’t all that smart sometimes.

One way to help this is to set your VTR pre-roll way down to something like 1 sec. (though this “could” introduce other issues) and use Log and Capture, as was mentioned earlier. And also make sure not to set your In’s and Out’s too close to the “breaks”.

    Hope this helps.

I now see that the OP had that one in his list.

Your right Rafael, its all about the codec. That software didn’t indicate what codecs it transcoded to. I assumed it would use whatever codecs that are installed. Like I said shot in the dark.

Here is a shot in the dark https://www.mtsconverter.com/convert-mts-to-mov.html I just did a quick google search and this came up. Never used it. Give it a whack. Your milage may vary.

    Jan,

hmm… Just out of curiosity are you able to play the .mts file in Quicktime after you’ve installed Perian? How about in VLC?

Yes, using multi-cam is far more efficient than the hack and whack method. In response to your question about FCE’s CC vs FCP’s CC, I am not familiar with FCE so I cannot comment on it. I must say that I find the FCP’s CC only adequate. I generally use Colorista or Colorista II when doing any in timeline color work. It costs money and is is worth every penny.

I would suggest going to FCP support page: https://www.apple.com/support/finalcutpro/ You should download the manual and read through the multi cam section. There is a ton of info in there that should help answer many of your questions on multi-cam setup, etc.

You also need to consider that you will have to bring all your footage to a common format (i.e. pre-process) if you plan to use multi-cam edit.

That’s good news. The footage that I converted was also from a Canon camera. I think you should be good to go.
