December 4, 2017 at 2:26 am in reply to: Alpha channel from Premiere to Final Cut doesnt workGo to about 4min in this video to see how FCPX is handling/interpreting the alpha you are giving him.
https://www.provideocoalition.com/fcp-x-and-alpha-channels/
Have him toggle the alpha handling setting to see if that fixes the alpha for you. If it does great! To export b/w alpha matte pass:
Go into UltraKey and change “output” to “Alpha Channel”. This will give you a black and white alpha matte pass. Export the clip.Jeffrey Di Lullo

December 3, 2017 at 12:56 am in reply to: Alpha channel from Premiere to Final Cut doesnt workIf the alpha isn’t looking correct I’d ask 2 questions:
1) how is he interpreting the alpha: premultiplied or un-premultiplied. Then make sure that it matches what you are outputting.
2) Can his system correctly read the Cineform codec. Have you tried sending the clip as ProRes 4444?
Larry Jordan recently wrote an article about Cineform and FCPX (Not sure how helpful it is in your situation as it doesn’t directly relate to keying). https://larryjordan.com/articles/problems-with-final-cut-pro-x-and-gopro-cineform/What would it look like if you just sent over a black and white alpha matte of the keyed clip and the original clip (two clips) and have him use that to key in FCPX. You can render the alpha matte pass as PhotoJpeg or a PNG sequence or whatever you like. Considering that he wants to finish the composite in FCPX this would actually give him better control over the final composite and would be my preferred method.

November 12, 2016 at 4:35 pm in reply to: prores/dnx data rates for documenting seminarIf you are asking which ProRes flavor to use, I’d say you’d be very happy with ProRes LT for this job.

I believe that codec was from the old cinewave hardware. Not sure that you are going to be able to open it without the cinewave codec.

June 10, 2012 at 10:19 pm in reply to: My exported FCP :60 only come out :48 sec?! – frame rate change madeNo problem! I’ve used these to deliver a TV spot that was shot in 720p23.98pN (HVX200) which needed to be delivered in 29.97. It worked like a charm. Just to remind you this preset will create an interlaced video file.

June 10, 2012 at 8:59 pm in reply to: My exported FCP :60 only come out :48 sec?! – frame rate change madeI don’t remember which thread it was on the cow that I pulled these from (if someone can find the orignal thread please post it), but here are the compressor presets to create a ProRes file with correct pulldown.
They need to placed in:
~/Library/Application Support/Compressor
Once there make sure the restart Compressor (if it was already open).
Good luck!

May 29, 2011 at 12:38 pm in reply to: Motion projects not rendering in the FCP timelineI think you need to change your render settings. If you go to the sequence menu in the tool bar you’ll see entries for render all. Select it and go to the sub-menu. You’ll see a list of colors. Each of these represent a type of RT effect (dark green being Full RT and orange being unlimited) You need to check each one that you want the render command to render. You have to do this one at a time. Your motion clip is going to be an Orange render.
Once you’ve check the correct render colors (hint: I have all of them check for “render all”), hit render and it should go.
