Ah yes, the old JVC – I believe they were the only manufacturer to ever offer the HDV 720p format. Sony, Canon, Panasonic all went with the 1080i standard.

Could maybe try recapturing using other software, such as the free “HDVsplit”. Or with Premiere, capture with “Scene Detect” enabled and that might create new clips at each break/corruption.

Hi Bill,

How did you capture the footage? It can be either DV or HDV footage on the miniDV cassette. I noticed your setting is for 720p, which is HD, but most HDV is 1080i, so whether the footage is DV or HDV, 720p is likely incorrect.

I never use the Queue feature, so not familiar with any issues over there, I just use the Export button in AME. What preset did you use for the MPEG-2 DVD export? Check any other options? If you can post a screen shot of the AME export settings, that will be helpful.

It’s funny how everyone has a different background and different methods of doing the same thing. Your issue has never bothered me because I don’t really use the slider thingy, I’ve always just used the “+” and “-” keys to zoom in and out at playhead. Maybe this will help you, maybe not

Hi Katie,

LightScribe never really took off – you had to buy the special (expensive) media, then actually flip the DVD over after burning in order to print it, which took quite a while.

Look for an inkjet printer that also accepts discs, such as an Epson or Canon, and use the white inkjet printable media. Be sure to use a good quality such as JVC/Taiyo Yuden. Never use sticky labels! If they are applied even slightly off center, it causes a vibration that can affect playback. Also, the heat inside the player can cause the adhesive to let go and the label starts to come off in the player. Not cool.

When you Save a COPY, you remain IN the current project (in your case, the auto-saved version in the auto save folder) so even though you made another version of the project…you’re not editing in it until you exit the current project and open the new one. What you want to do instead is a SAVE AS, and designate a Save location outside the AutoSave folder.

Hi Christopher,

Best practice for any AVCHD format is to copy entire contents of SD card to your hard drive. Do NOT modify folders at all. Then in Premiere, Import using the “Media Browser”. This will give best results for tapeless media, especially in the area of sound, and for spanned clips.

The free Microsoft Security Essentials seems to be as light/transparent as it gets, been using it for years on multiple machines. For edit system and kids and office, has offered great protection without seeming to hurt performance one bit.
