Generally, I find that when I import clips into an event that already has clips in it, the ones I just imported are highlighted. Not sure what the rule is for which sequences are highlighted. Just more FCP UI weirdness.
OT: Oliver, can you take a look at the thread I started in the Premiere forum? It’s about Premiere to Resolve with R3D footage.

November 8, 2019 at 8:01 pm in reply to: R3D 8K Premiere to Resolve problems, plus a bonus head scratcher! (long post)Hi Chris. Thanks for responding. All good advice, most of which I’m already familiar with.
I’ve explained the proper import procedure to the editor. I wish he’d asked before starting! Oh well.
The sequences are very simple. No speed changes or effects. All source is the same frame rate: 23.98. No proxies used. This should have been a really simple exercise. The only unusual part for us was the R3D 8k source files. It seems clear to me his not having imported the spanned files correctly was the primary source of the problems getting the sequences to our colorist.
But I’m confused about the XMP thing. The Write XMP ID box is unchecked by default. You’re saying it should be on? I remember there used to be an issue where that feature changed the original files enough that they wouldn’t relink in FCP (we are an FCPX house), but I guess that was fixed.
Is anyone aware of any way Premiere could have changed the metadata of parts of the R3D files in such a way that they’re no longer seen as valid files? This is the piece of this puzzle that really has me concerned, as I now have a number of master source files that no longer work. I will delete them from the server and reload them from the archive drive, but this really makes my head hurt.

Lumaforge Jellyfish. Hands down, the best option. Worth every penny for performance and customer support.

Yes, but still a little cumbersome.
If you trim the in point of your clip back/left (say, 10 frames) and set up your move, then trim it forward/right, back to where you really want the in point, the keyframe stays put and the move will start 10 frames before the clip. Same process for the outpoint.
If you’re just doing push in/push out (similar to KenBurns effect), try Alex4D’s Grow/Shrink plugin. You can set a start percentage, end percentage, rate and start/stop delays, plus adjust the target X,Y location. I believe it will start the motion at the very first frame, so the clip will be in motion at the start of a dissolve from the previous shot, as well as floating through to the end of the “out” transition.

+1 to SendtoX. Great little utility (along with XtoCC for the opposite direction), I use it all the time. But expect to have to do some cleanup work after the translation:
– Audio, in particular can be wonky. Levels don’t always come across correctly.
– And stereo clips may have to be switched to dual mono and back to stereo to play correctly.
– And slo-mo/fast motion footage may not translate correctly.
– And make sure to break apart any nests in the Premiere project before conversion – otherwise, you are likely to be missing the original clips used to make it.
– Plus you’ll have lots of strange 1 frame clips at random places in the new timeline. But, still, a great conversion utility.

Sure it could. After he dubbed his next shot to a b-roll reel… (or had his tape op do it for him!)

Don’t forget the combiner. So you could link all 4 channels into one output.

Mike was a rock star. Didn’t really know him personally, but he was legendary in Chicago. Same for Post FX.
[Scott Thomas] “Century III in late 1997”
Did Century III absorb what was left of TeleMation? Or was it just that the TeleMation/Chicago sort-of-boss (John…something with a ‘D’) ended up there when Chicago shut down?

[greg janza] “The trashcan came in with a loud thud in 2013”
Where do you guys get this nonsense? No thud at the places where I work, or among the people I know.
A small but vocal group (mostly online) chanting, “but, muh slots!” is just background noise for lots of people happily doing real work while waiting (way to long) for an updated machine. -
[Simon Ubsdell] “Not for me to adjudicate on that”
And yet, here you are adjudicating…
Years of talking to lots of people in this town, and the response from the Never X crowd is pretty consistent:
Ill-informed and proud to have no interest in trying it out.So, no, the point really isn’t worth making. That point is past its “sell by” date.
