FCPX can’t work directly with AVCHD files and they need to be rewrapped. This means that it always has to make a copy of the files from the camera cardand work with those copies. The files should be in your library, which I assume you set to be externally managed or you shouldn’t be having any offline file issues.
FCPX isn’t great at relinking so your best bet is to reconnect the missing optimised media files it created in wherever you set your library location to be. Otherwise, I’m not sure you can do anything.
I always convert AVCHD to something directly editable using an app like EditReady so I’ve never had to recover from your situation and can’t be much help with that part of it.

The chances of the original editor relinking the files are slim to zero unfortunately. The only real way out is to put the proxies back where they belong, switch to proxy mode and remove all reference to the proxies you imported yourself.

Final Cut Library Manager is an app from Arctic Whiteness – https://www.arcticwhiteness.com/finalcutlibrarymanager/
The application lets you easily delete optimised media, render files, etc from your library prior to archiving. I like using it because it will warn you before it deletes optimised media that doesn’t have any corresponding original media available. I’ve had this happen to me a couple of times where FCPX was happily using the optimised copy but the original had somehow been accidentally deleted so when I deleted the optimised media, I lost the only copy of the clip.
Optimising to proxy media will work fine and save space, just switch back to using original media before you render your project.

To move a storyline you just need to select the storyline’s shelf, not the clips inside it. The fastest way to do that with one or more storylines is to open the timeline index, type “story” in the search box, select some or all of them in the index, then drag them around the timeline as needed.

You’ll need to have made a backup of 10.2 before you upgraded. If so, you can just copy the old version back.

The only time FCPX should ignore the “leave in place” option is if you are importing a codec that has to be rewrapped or possibly if the footage is coming from what it thinks is a camera card.

With my compound clip method, you can turn the timecode overlay on/off to check your cuts (useful when the client says you cut in the wrong place) and you can cut from the start or the end of the clip – although I almost always start from the end and work backwards.

I usually do this by putting the timeline and the timecode generator in a compound clip. The timecode overlay will stay in place as I cut the compound clip. Once done I just go into he compound clip and delete or disable the timecode.
