I haven’t used the Hyperdeck but for 25PsF from my Ninja I just highlight all the clips in the event and set field dominance to progressive in the info panel. If I create a new project using those clips and let FCPX auto choose the format I get 25p. It’s worked that way for PsF files from the Ninja and a couple of older HD cameras so I’d expect it to work that way for the Hyperdeck Shuttle as well.

Existing compound clips will continue to function as they did but all new compound clips will take on the new functionality. My advice is never upgrade mid-project but I’ll admit I’ve updated every release on the day it came out and haven’t had any real issues so far.
As always, back everything up including your current version of FCPX in case it all goes horribly wrong…

My only question for the OP is why colour correct outside of FCPX in the first place? I’d normally do the balancing in the angle editor where I can see multiple angles at once for comparison. It’s quick, easy and I can get on with the edit in five minutes.
I’d love to see FCPX have a decent re-linking capability but who knows, maybe we’ll see a replace footage option in 10.0.8… I’ve got my fingers crossed. Meanwhile it’s (mostly) not that hard to work around if you give it some forethought.

FCPX XML generates absolute rather than relative links to the media in use at the time. If the media is in a different location when you reload the XML then you need to either use the target app’s relinking facility or do a search and replace in the XML file with a text editor to change the location references.

Given you only have 90gb of footage I can’t really see the advantage of going to the extra effort of using proxy files on the Mac you have but what you want to do should work.
My advice is always to test the workflow. It doesn’t take very long to bring in a handful of clips and test the workflow for yourself. Render speed on the network will depend a little on how well your router/switch/server is set up to handle jumbo frames, etc.
At the end of the edit you will want to consolidate your event library which will copy your original clips over to your event.

AVCHD is a h.264 format so FCPX hasn’t done anything to the file. Of course, you may want to tell FCPX to transcode to something more edit friendly on import.
I don’t have a C100 but from memory it only records true progressive at 24p, everything else is recorded progressive segmented frame (PSF) which will show as interlaced on import. Your clip says 25fps so it’s. PSF file. Even so, FCPX should play it back properly as a progressive clip, or it does when I give it PSF footage from my ATOMOS Ninja.
At worst, after import select all the clips in the event library and use the info panel to set field dominance to none/progressive, or tick the deinterlace checkbox if you want FCPX to actually deinterlace the clips.

The canon XF utility release notes specifically say it is not comparable with Snow Leopard. You need 10.7 or better.

I don’t own an FX300 but according to a quick search of this formum, Canon do have an FCPX comparable import plugin (released about a year ago) & for the import to work you need to work directly with the CF card or an exact copy of it if you’re archiving to HDD.
