At the bottom of you tools pallet is a little icon. That will change the background to your image

I believe that is when part of your action can’t be done. If you action works on one image and noth another, figure out what’s different between the 2 images. Like, if you select a path in you action, it might not be able to on another image if the path has a different name. (that one happened to me before)

My guess would be things like Windows picture and fax viewer are just not that accurate. Things like Photoshop and Nikon Capture 4 are probably a lot more accurate. I find it hard enough to get my printer and photoshop to be calibrated together. Why not do everything in Photoshop?

300 ppi would be ideal but it really depends on what you are using it for. We do a of big sign, wall size sometimes for shows, and we let our standards down for that to even like 100 ppi. (Up on a wall, it looks fine)

On a mac, it’s whatever you computer has installed. You don’t add them directly to the programs. I assume a PC is just the same.

The only other thing you can do is see how much that feature is scaling it at manually scale it a little more. If I should guess, the right PPD is not selected because the PPD should know where the margins of you printer is.

Yes, Make sure the image is a layer, not a background, go to Canvas size under the image pulldown menu, change it to the size you want it and then you will be able to drag you image around to where you like it, than flatten.

What do you mean, the same size as the photoshop screen? Do you mean as it appears on the monitor? Go to Image/Image Size and that will tell you the size it will print.
