Thanks! That’s exactly why I asked. I’m writing a report for work in which I am trying to convince everyone to use Smart Object and filters. Just wanted to make sure I had my facts right!
Thanks again!

as they say, “I’d get a lot more done if it wasn’t for these damn customers!”

Thanks Dan, that will work. I still remember doing it the other way but as long as I get it done. Sorry if I sounded a bit rude. Bad day!
I’ve got 100’s of these little cards to do for a customer (which they created) in which every card was created in Photoshop (along with the type) and brought into Quark (How I hate Quark). I’ve got to open each one up, make a small change and resave it. The reason I ned to have them as eps’s is so they link up with the quark file. If I save them in any other format, I’ll have to relink each one.
This is one of those jobs from hell, boring and tedious!

Thanks but that in no way helps. I didn’t ask about the format I am saving in. I could have said .tif, of .jpj. What I did ask about was can I use an action to save files under a different format. I know there is a way but for some reason can’t get it to work.
And I don’t understand “check override save as” since it wil still not allow me to change formats.

Thanks Dave,
That might be what I’m looking for. If anyone lese has nay idea’s, I’d love to hear them!

Thanks but that’s not exactly what I’m looking for. Most of the folks I work with know CS pretty well. We upgraded to CS3 and we would like to get training on it since there are a lot of new features in Photoshop since CS. Personally I study PS on my own and am learning CS3 on my own but we have 14 others who could use trainin.
We have a great training place by us (Chicago) so that’s not a problem.
The problem is, we have to justify it. Not just way we want to learn it but how training will benifit the company.
I can say, Smart Objects are something we should know, but the money people will ask, yes, but what are the benifits to us? The art department seems to be getting along jst fine right now, why should we train? Remember, these guys can barely work their PDA, let alone understand photoshop.
So bottom line, if you know of a way for me to explain to my bosses how CS3 training could have them money, I could use it.

Sorry. That would help!
Were in Graphic design. We make Educational toys. We do everything from design the toys to packaging and instructions to catalogs.
Thanks very much!

Are we talking Illustrator or Photoshop?

A layer is a basic building block of photoshop. I’s really get a book or manual about photoshop. But quickly, have you layers pallet open (Window pulldown menu – layers) This will show you all the layers in your document. If it’s a new document, you will probably only have the background layer. It sort of like dowing animation where you have a background drawing and then you lay clear plastic on top of it. So to get a layer on top of the background, go to layers on top pulldown menu and choose new layer. Now in your layers pallet you should see a layer on top of the background (this is a transparent layer). If you draw on it, you will draw over your background without effecting the background.
This is about as basic as I can make it. If you don’t understand this, I’m afraid I can’t help and you should by a basic photoshop book because you NEED TO LEARN THE BASICs before you can really start messing with layers.
