OK, I’ve got a bunch of Layered Photoshop files that I want to flatten as save as .eps files. I figured a action was the way to go but . . .

When I use the “save as” to change my file from a .psd to a .eps, that name changes, such as test.psd to test.eps. Therefor photoshop puts the new name into the action and all the batched files end up having the same name, one overwriting the other.

I know I’ve done this before. In fact I have a previous action to turn images into jpgs that must have used a Save As and that works. What am I doing wrong or missing?

I’m on a mac and have tried it in both CS and CS3.

    thank
    Jeff

Why eps.. terrible format for PS files

you can either use batch command and check override save as

or pick a better format the Image Processor script supports

Thanks but that in no way helps. I didn’t ask about the format I am saving in. I could have said .tif, of .jpj. What I did ask about was can I use an action to save files under a different format. I know there is a way but for some reason can’t get it to work.

And I don’t understand “check override save as” since it wil still not allow me to change formats.

The second line answered your question..

Write the action with a Save As in it… then use the Batch command to batch process with the action and check override Save As

Thanks Dan, that will work. I still remember doing it the other way but as long as I get it done. Sorry if I sounded a bit rude. Bad day!

I’ve got 100’s of these little cards to do for a customer (which they created) in which every card was created in Photoshop (along with the type) and brought into Quark (How I hate Quark). I’ve got to open each one up, make a small change and resave it. The reason I ned to have them as eps’s is so they link up with the quark file. If I save them in any other format, I’ll have to relink each one.

This is one of those jobs from hell, boring and tedious!

as they say, “I’d get a lot more done if it wasn’t for these damn customers!”

    thanks again!
