I’ve got a quick question. Am I right in thinking that if you reduce a file 50 percent in photoshop, you actually throwing out 75 percent of the data. So if you take a 600×600 pixel image and make it 300×300, that’s a 75 percent lose of information.

    Is that right?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

You will have 75% fewer pixels, yes. Although ‘loss’ can be avoided by converting to a smart object before scaling.

Thanks! That’s exactly why I asked. I’m writing a report for work in which I am trying to convince everyone to use Smart Object and filters. Just wanted to make sure I had my facts right!

    Thanks again!
