Yes, I would buy it again. Workflow is great. I too wish SD was a more viable option, but that’s about the only drawback I really have. It’s a workhorse with great images. Easy to set up, save a ton with media costs.

There is a menu within the settings that allows you to choose MP4 or MOV. I shot in MOV. I have not tried the MP4 yet. Been a busier than expected weekend with other things. I will shoot more this week.

Well, my camera gets here tomorrow, but the battery and power supply/charger were sent separate, so they won’t arrive til Friday or Tuesday! Will report back.

I did some very basic stuff with both the EX3 and the JVC 700. Nothing to really report regarding full use since I had about ten minutes with both.

I did think that the image out of the 700 was better looking than the EX3. However, that could be due to the set ups and such. The 700 is very, very new and the retailer was still figuring out how everything worked.

I am looking forward to a long trial in a few weeks with the 700. I’ll make some posts here. By the way, have you checked out the Phillip Bloom review of the 700? I linked it in another post somewhere here, but here it is again. Really solid review and great images online. Here’s the link:

Here is a link to a review of the 700 by Phil Bloom. Pretty cool review.

I messed around with both cameras a few weeks back. The EX3 is not easy to work with when holding. It is better than the EX1, but still I found it more difficult than the JVC 700. I mainly create educational titles and work in Final Cut Pro, so the 700 is an ideal choice for me. Genlock and such isn’t that important to me at this time since I do all the shooting and editing myself.

Hi. The lens Phil Bloom was using in his testing was the Fujinon 16X, not the 17. I don’t know if it’s been tested much with the 17X, but that lens is a much, much better lens than the 16x.

    Hey Chris,

Where do I find the Sorensen 3 codec? I don’t see it in my choices. There are several options, but Sorensen is not one of them. Thanks,.

December 8, 2006 at 9:30 pm in reply to: How to do a Hitchcock effect

I have a client who requested the effect and wants the shadow to turn into the person. He is describing it as the “Hitchcock” effect. I haven’t seen the intro in some twenty years, but my take on what he wants to do may be different than what was actually done. I need to see the intro and, I think, it was posted above.

    Thanks.
