Sorry, no. AE is a compositor – each element gets its own individual layer/track.
A dissolve is two layers interacting; you can rebuild the transition (using opacity kf), but you can’t actually get it to transfer over.

For HD of this size, you’re probably going to need to change that to around 3000-5000 kbs. This will make the resulting file at least 5-8x larger.
I’d also probably switch the 1Pass CBR to 2pass VBR
Hmm – at the bottom you’re set to Automatic Data rate as well, that shouldn’t be. Either your at a specific data rate (768) or a generic setting (Automatic).

Hmm, so it only does this for a DV project? That’s odd.
Could the DV project think it’s outputting via DV/FireWire?
Do you have a camera/deck attached that might be confusing it?

Stephen, I don’t think you can do what you want and use ProRes.
ProRes Proxy will run you about 3-4 min/GB (that’s the most compressed ProRes.)So you need to encode to another format to meet your goal – of 25 min into 1 Gig and have it playable on a system.
If you send your work to Compressor, you can use the Youtube preset, which will make an h.264 QuickTime file that will meet your needs – something that is significantly smaller, but looks great during playback.

MacRumors buyer’s guide says wait. IF you want ot spend the money, buy the faster iMac (because I think it can hold more ram than a MBP) and as much RAM as you can afford.

Maybe. If you’re running h.264, you could use the Youtube preset, which should give you a data rate of around 20mb/s and should result in a file of around 3gb in size. This is with compressor 5; let us know if it’s an earlier version.

What video format is the XH A1? Is it h.264?It sounds like you’re on a mac using Compressor – which version of Compressor?
How long is the footage?
