The struggle with the blackberry(s) is the variety of sizes and fix.

Many support 16×9, I have a feeling that straight MPEG4 are best…

Do you really feel the full quality ProRes Files are too big? It is the happy medium.

I hate to say this. At about a gig a minute on a hard drive (not the best long term storage) are about $0.04/gig, that means you’re not willing to spend $3.00 to archive your show. Using a second drive, takes that price up to $6.00.

When I think ‘archival’ issues, I think, what will be readable ten years from now (Both in format and in storage.)

While this doesn’t cover it, If you’re going to make money off the blu-ray at some point, don’t you have $6?

Sounds like corruption or something is wrong with his workflow -since we don’t know it, we can’t really figure it out. Something is either setting or corrupting the fps – and if everything else works, it could be just this one spot.

MC 6 uses multiple cores (so did 5!). It’s the processor type. That’s how you comparer. You’re mentioning the speed, but not the specific processor. Nephalem? Core2duo? i5, i7? Each iteration is a different release of processor from Intel.

Technically, when compressor uses any type of VBR compression, it’ll automatically analyze the file; ‘cuts’ will automatically be detected and an iframe will be put there.

I don’t know how low of the final bitrate of your finished work; most of the time, compression markers (as I’m sure you’re aware) only really to be used to force iframes when compressing – something that I’ve only really needed when I want to squeeze the last little bit of the bitrate out of a file. Often I’m using tools other than compressor (especially for mpeg2 files) because apple’s encoder is decent, but not the quality of say, MainConcepts.

FCP’s scaling algorithm is ‘okay’ when you tweak the motion tab to ‘best’ quality; compressor’s is better. And FCPs frame controls leave quite a bit to be desired.

M2Vs as a source are a different beast; as far as I can tell, compressor makes some assumptions when it’s a ‘source” file.

That’s the velocity of the text in AE. Roll open the X position and you should see a numerical pixels per second value.

I won’t argue the number of clicks. The ability to get more refined in the keyframing model is something that was long overdue in Media Composer.

A trick: you can right click on the group name in the adv. keyframe area and set all the keyframes to spline. You could also do this at the very top of the effect to change all keyframes to spline.
