Yes, and there’s 2 files for the audio in the AUDIO folder, “0002EQ00.mxf” and “0002EQ01.mxf”, assuming those are for 2 audio channels. In the CLIP folder there’s “0002EQ.xml” and a “0002EQ.bmp” in the ICON folder. As far as I can think of that’s all the necessary information.

Added to the previous post:
The issue I’m exactly having is that: I load my “P2 Clip” folder and all its contents to my hard drive from my External HD, create a FCP project, make a bin, set the bin to “logging bin”. Go to File > Import > Panasonic P2. I set the folder in which the P2 contents are (the “P2 Clip” folder), and I see all my clips load up into the main list. I can preview my clips, audio seems fine, video seems fine, I can even set my in/out points and re-label the clip with all the necessary information.
The problem arises when I hit either “Add Clip to Queue” or “Add Selection to Queue”. The status icon spins for a few seconds, then stops. The status BAR doesn’t move at all, it begins to process but doesn’t actually move any lengths. When I scroll over the clip I attempted to add into the queue, a red exclamation/yield sign replaces the status icon and reads: Error: No Data.
The colleague I mentioned in the previous post also mentioned to try using “Log and Transfer” however, I only have the option to “Log and Capture.”
Here are screen shots I took of my “Log and Capture” and the error message I receive.

Hope that worked.

Shane,
Yes to your first question. Thanks for clarifying that.
To your second question:
I am currently using version 5.1.4. I’m pretty sure this isn’t the original version I had when I successfully imported my P2 clips the first time. I can recall watching your first, oldest importing p2 folder, and only having a grade slightly higher than the one you used in the video.
I don’t remember physically updating FCP, but I just bought my new Imac and there’s a good chance I clicked a pop-up without fully reading it. So perhaps, I did upgrade. The Import> P2 menu I’m using now is the same as the 2nd Importing P2 video you made (the one I mention in the post before this one).
Although I don’t consider it a fix, I think the quickest remedy for my issue so I can continue to do my work is just to re-install FCP and go back to the initial version I had when I first imported P2 clips.
A colleague of mine suggested making a “Virtual P2 Card”, essentially hooking up an external hard drive to our HPX170 and through the PC-mode formatting that external into a P2 Card. I do see how this may help keeping the file structure of the P2 clips (all the audio, video, etc folders) reasonably together, as compared to just dragging the P2 folder from Windows, to my external and then to my mac. Has anyone this issue and attempted to remedy by making a virtual P2 card?
The same colleague also gave me his copy of “The HVX and HPX Book” by Barry Green, which within the first 20 pages already has some insightful information, so hopefully this may trigger an idea.

Thanks for responding Noah. Funny thing was I completely forgot that I had downloaded but didn’t install calibrated mxf. I installed it but still having the same problem. I did notice something last night when I was scouring the google for some answers.
I have actually done it successfully a few days ago with different footage than what I’m attempting to import now. I could swear the import panasonic p2 menu was completely different when I did it the first time, than it is now.
The first time I successfully imported P2 clips I used Shane Ross’s video, “Importing P2 into FCP: Apple Final Cut Pro Video Tutorial”. The P2 menu I had was the same as Shane’s.
However, now, with the UNsuccessful attempts, my “Import P2 Clips” menu looks more like Shane Ross’s video, ” How to import Panasonic P2 footage into Final Cut Pro 6 | How to”.
I’m almost 100% sure I didn’t update anything but clearly something must’ve been updated from Shane’s 1st video (at least 1st one I mention) to the menu shown in Shane’s 2nd video. Perhaps this problem has risen from an update?

I am also having this issue, however, the external that contains my P2 Information is NTSC formatted. I recently posted in the Panasonic P2 Forum and I’m having this issue as well. I’ve read the remedies mentioned and I’m at the same position that Nicolas Romolini is in.
