Here I am, almost a decade later, still experiencing this exact problem. So if Apple knew about it, they haven’t done anything about it.

    Thanks, Patrick!

I thought I combed their entire catalog for it yesterday, but maybe I missed it. Any idea what they call it?

    Thanks, Joe! Good knowledge.

What I’m looking for is more on the lines of a file copy solution than an FCPX solution. I’m a big fan of consolidated libraries for various reasons. Just wondering if anyone knows a Finder/Terminal trick, or even a third-party app, that can skip unchanged files inside a consolidated library.

  • 8 years later, on 10.4.6, this trick still works!

  • Joe, thanks so much for your response.

The artifacting happens in other media players as well, including Quicktime and Finder, and the artifacts are different each time it’s played. I have tried transcoding with Handbrake…the transcodes have the same problems.

I’ll take a look at the link you posted. Thanks again!

  • Hey Dan,

I know this isn’t advice for your problem specifically, but it’s worth trying since it’s a really odd issue.

I’ve had a couple weird FCPX problems that I couldn’t find duplicates for online, and that nobody here had an answer for, that were fixed by creating a new user account on my Mac. Nothing else worked; not even deleting/reinstalling the app, updating, or deleting PLIST files. But a running the operation under new user account resolved them.

I mean, I’d wait a couple days to see if this is a known issue, but barring that…

Maybe the build of the plugin you downloaded was compiled by someone at the vendor who had their system set to Spanish localization.

My system is set to Spanish, and I have to use a third-party app to open certain applications in English so my collaborators don’t end up with Spanish-named exports, or for example, e-mail replies with quotation headers in Spanish.

    Got it!

    I used this tool: https://grauonline.de/cms2/?page_id=5

The demo version only repairs 50% of the file, so I bought a 5-use license for about $35.
