I’m sorry I’ve got so many proplems going on at once. The version of quicktime on the p.c. based mac is not the fully updated version since it is not on the web for obvious reasons. i don’t know if it would be wise to just use these exported quicktimes as reference and lay in the composite with an alpha in the original avid timeline. Unfortunetly they can’t find the manual, that would be a big help. I’m also having trouble importing graphics with an alpha i created in ae. (uncompressed, unmatted, animation, .mov, etc) it seems fine but it look jagged on the very small ntsc viewing monitor. i’m not sure if it’s because of the size of the monitor or not. (two c’s for closed caption) i’ve been importing i guess OMF, which is just a container for the file? at 1:1 uncompressed. I know there is a setting for self contained and non self contained in fcp but ill have to explore the avid.
it’s been a while since i’ve used an avid.

thanks for the help so far,

    jeff

That’s what I need to know, so it is correct. Like stated previously I’m not too familiar with avid. Is there an option for animation codec or uncompressed. How do I export it. Start forward question.

    thanx,

    Thanks for a responce. Anybody?

  • I just want to be able to bring still images into ae and animate them or have them stay static without the burden of a white background where a transparency used to be. with the psd. files I am having to create an alpha channel in photoshop 7. I’m also curious as to which video formats do that as well too. So thank you for the info.

  • I’m not sure what the frame rate is going to be yet, just concerned for the future when i put everything together.
Which after effects setting should i use? I’m not fimiliar with comforming or uncompressed.

The animation i made is simply just a layered jpeg on a black background. Nothing that fancy.

  • The comp size is 720 x 480 d1/dv ntsc (0.9) 29.97 res- full in AE.
I render it out at best / full dv ntsc 48 kHz, format: quicktime movie, animation best.

In fcp i have the system set at dv ntsc 48 kHz, and i “export quicktime movie”.

I have no idea. I think I remember actually exporting a good quality file from fcp. It’s giving me a headache. I don’t actaually have to use it for a while so I have time to figure out why it’s doing this fortunetly.
It’s going to be put in a short that’s going to be shot in 24p. Will that effect the animation as well?

If you go through the tuitorals on this site, i’ve seen one that shows you how to do the lines.

i don’t know what i’m doing wrong but once i create the circular path, i select the type tool put it over the circle’s outer line and it will not follow the path.
i’m working with ps 7, so you know.
also can you move the circular path once you draw it?
