Yes. Otherwise a 16:9 display will stretch the menus and the graphics will appear distorted to your audience.

What version of Encore? In CS3, you should only have to redo the menus, as long as Encore properly interprets your timeline assets as widescreen.

I haven’t run into this problem myself, but if I did, I would start troubleshooting by finding whether the 3ivx decoder was a higher priority than the MainConcept (Adobe2) H.264/AVC Decoder that is needed by Encore. Use the free program graphedit to check.
Or you could try uninstalling 3ivx, thereby (hopefully) removing its decoder from your system, and then try using your Squeeze or ProCoder files again.

Two ways to do this:
1. Keep your chapter end actions and then put all the chapters in order into a chapter playlist. Link the Play All button to the chapter playlist. Disadvantage: there will be a slight pause between the chapters when the playlist is played back.
2. Remove all of your chapter end actions and put each chapter into its own chapter playlist. Link the individual chapter selection menu buttons to their playlists. Link the Play All button to the original timeline. Disadvantage: more work than method #1.

Are you using text buttons? Is Encore creating the highlight from the text?
You need to edit your menu in Photoshop and create a separate highlight layer. Then you can nudge the highlight layer without moving the underlying text.

Solid red highlights rarely look good, especially over pure white text.
Adding to the problem is that subpicture highlights can’t be anti-aliased. You can experiment with stroked text in PS and multiple subpicture layers and opacity in Encore to try to simulate anti-aliasing, but be aware that strong, solid colors over solid-color backgrounds don’t make good design choices for DVD menus.

[JackHammer] “Uninstalling an application in (either using the application uninstaller or Add/Remove programs) rarely uninstalls everything that was installed alongside it and it maybe this that starts to cause problems. I have numerous XP systems whos applications crash on exit or suffer from multiple general errors on shutting down, or I have to end various processes with the task manager. I’ve just got used to it.”

Other than these 2 demos, I *do not* have the problems you describe with Windows XP.
My system has 2 versions of Adobe’s Production Studio (CS2 and CS3) installed plus various plug-ins for the apps; MS Office; Mozilla apps; QT Pro and iTunes; and various utilities (no Norton). The system is very stable in its current state, and I find the results of the introduction of the 2 demos disturbing.
Often, other users will have problems with Adobe’s suite because of installed codecs and codec packs, with results similar to mine when I installed the demos. I am skeptical that maybe the compression suites are glorified codec packs, standing by to conflict with installed software and the OS.

This can be done with the “Specify Link…” option in the Link drop-down box in the button’s Properties sheet and in concert with the “Resume” link for a menu button.
