Move the CTI in the timeline to the frame you want displayed in the menu button. Right-click the appropriate chapter marker and choose Set Poster Frame.

I got a lot of hits when I searched on the Adobe forum for that exact error message. You may want to search again and see if anything helps before you start over.
There will be some time involved trying to fix this, so it’s a question of how you want to spend that time: searching for solutions or just starting over.
I don’t like mysteries, so I would probably hunt for a solution. But if I had a deadline looming, then starting over would be the prudent choice.

Did you transcode the sequence yet? If so, you’ll need Revert to Original in the File menu.
You can also try deleting the Pr sequence from the En timeline and then adding it back.

I assumed you *were* testing on a hardware DVD player!
What software DVD player have you been using to test? If it’s WinDVD or PowerDVD, then try the other one. I seem to recall an issue where one or the other had trouble with Encore-created DVDs.
If it won’t work at all on either one, then try the free Media Player Classic Home Cinema. It’s lightweight and not very feature-filled, but it’ll get the job done. It also won’t install any new codecs, or mess with the ones you already have. It’s essentially self-contained.

It looks like everything is in order.
I recommend that you build a disc image out of your Encore project, and then use the free ImgBurn program to burn that to disc.
I would also check your blank media. You should make sure it is quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim, and not bargain media like Memorex or Fuji. You should have a couple of RW discs on hand (if you don’t already) for test burns.

Can you post a screenshot of your Menu viewer with “Show Button Routing” selected? It would help if the image also contained an expanded view of the Layers panel with the menu selected.

That’s irrelevant. If I had never seen your “before” pictures I would have thought that your “after” pictures looked just fine.

That suggests perceptual and/or system problems.

It’s worth a try. Experiment with more than one program, too. Sorenson Squeeze and Grass Valley ProCoder are good choices, but they aren’t cheap. You can also Google for HCEncoder. It’s an open-source MPEG2 encoder that has produced good results for many folks, me included. But it’s a bit on the techno-geek side, so if you don’t know your way around MPEG encoding, it may be overwhelming.
FWIW, I’ve never had chroma or luminance issues with the MainConcept encoder that is used in Pr, AE and En.

Don’t use PowerDVD to judge. Burn an RW disc and test it on a properly calibrated television set.
