Open Encore’s Help in the Adobe Help Center and look in the Contents tab. Twirl down the topic, “Menus: beyond the basics” and then twirl down “Video thumbnail buttons”. Read all of the topics in that section.

Even though Encore 2.0 supports qt ref files, they must be saved as .mov files. Have you tried that?

That is a bad thing. Clear every single override in the entire project unless you have an unusual navigation problem and know exactly why you want them set. Override navigation that *may* have been necessary in 1.5 is unnecessary in 2.0 now that Chapter End Actions and Chapter Playlists are available.

Hi Michael,
This is a new feature in Encore 2 called, “Sync Button Text and Name”. It is very helpful if you design or edit your menus inside of Encore, but, as you have discovered, it is deadly when you take your pre-designed buttons and link them to program content.
The best way to handle this is to use the Menus panel (not the viewer) and select all of the buttons in a menu all at once, then use the Properties panel to de-select the SBTAN checkbox. Repeat for each menu in your project. Accomplish this task BEFORE you start linking the buttons.
AFAIK, several thousand feature requests to have a Preference for SBTAN to be on or off by default have already been filed, but it wouldn’t hurt for you to go to the Adobe site and file one too.

If this is what I think it is, the people experiencing the problem have to fix it themselves. The setup in their DVD players is wrong. They probably have it set to “4:3 Pan and Scan” instead of “4:3 Letterbox”.

If you are using Encore version 1.x, then make sure you export from Avid as self-contained QuickTime .mov files and not as reference files.

Does the DVD folder play OK in a software DVD player?
What format are your sound files when you import them into Encore?
What format do you transcode them to?
Try creating a disc image, then burning the image to DVD. Use Encore and/or Nero. Nero sometimes plays fast and loose with the DVD spec, so your DVD folders may not have gotten burned to disc quite right.

Encore 1.x was VERY finnicky about assets and project files being moved around. Encore 2.0 is more forgiving, but can still be affected, especially if the project file and/or project folder get moved.
My best advice is to put everything back where it was and try again. If that doesn’t work, try loading an earlier version of the project (again making sure that all assets and project files are where Encore expects them to be).
