Maybe your hardware player doesn’t respond well to first-play menus. Try putting a short, silent timeline with black video as your first play. Don’t make it shorter than 2 seconds; I’d use 5 seconds. Link the blank timeline to the animated menu.

Blue Screen errors almost always indicate hardware problems like bad drivers, overheating, failing memory chips, etc.
Do you have the latest drivers for your video card? Audio card?
Does your computer case have adequate ventilation? Is the power supply strong enough to handle all of your hardware?
These are the things I would check.

Is Photoshop still associated with .psd files? IOW, what happens when you double click a .psd file in Finder? I know how to fix that in Windows if PS isn’t the program that opens when you do that, but not a clue as to how to fix it on a Mac.

Park the CTI on the frame you want as the poster frame, then right-click the appropriate chapter marker and choose Set Poster Frame.
